Location
Gävleborg County is located on the coast of the Gulf of Botten, to the North from Stockholm. It has a population of 273 323 people. The area is mainly plain with smaller hills and in 79% covered with forests (Sweden’s most forested area). The average temperature in January is -5 degrees with 7 hours of daylight and 21 degrees in July with 18 hours of daylight.
Gävle is the capitol of Gävleborg county, located 157 km to the North from Stockholm and lies on the shore of the Gulf of Botten near the mouth of river Dalälven. The city had 71 000 inhabitants in 2010. Compared to its size, the city has a large and well nourished cultural life: the prison museum of Sweden,
the country museum of Gävleborg, and the national railway museum are the three largest museums in the city. Gävle has a theatre to the 1800s. It is still used for performances today, including classic theatre, opera, variety shows and stand-up. There is also a concert hall in Gävle which was
inaugurated in 1998 and it is home to the Gävle Symphony Orchestra. Gävle has teams competing in
the highest national league in both football and ice hockey. The University College of Gävle currently enrols 14,500 students. It offers over 800 courses and 45 degree programs in technology, social- and natural sciences and the humanities.
Hospital
Gävle Hospital conducts emergency and specialized care for residents within the county and northern Uppland. Here are all specialties like surgery, orthopaedics, medicine, intensive care. Operations include child and adolescent health, women's health, oncology, psychiatry, and ear, nose and throat and eyes. The hospital’s catchment area is approximately 150 000 people.
Department
Department of Clinical Pathology and Cytology has the task of analyzing tissue- and cell samples with microscope. The aim is to give the medical attendant a basis for treatment of the patient's illness. The activity is also responsible for convening and administrating of gynaecological cell sample control in Gävleborg County Council. The unit also conducts autopsy and mortuary activities. Clinical Pathology and Cytology is included in the operational area of Laboratory Medicine which is county-wide in Gävleborg. Our activity is accredited.
Duties and responsibilities of the candidate
- Specialist exam in clinical pathology
- Experience in
o skin –
o gynaecology -
o breast -
o tarm/gastrointestinal -
o urological -
o cyto -
pathology and in performing autopsies.
- Communicative, positive, initiative personality
- The candidate should have the interest and ability to supervise and teach and should have good interpersonal skills
- The candidate has to have medical diploma and specialist certificate from the EU or has to have work experience in the EU.
- The candidate has to complete B2 level on the Swedish language course.
Salary and services
- During the probation period (first six months after the language course) 45 – 46 000 SEK per month (gross) salary ~ 5100 Euro gross/month After the probation period, the final salary depends on the experience (i.e. professional background and the number of the years has been spent in the specialty) of the candidate, but minimum 51.000 SEK per month (gross). ~ 5650 Euro gross/month
