-Focused on Engineering of UNIX/Linux systems. Creates, tests, documents and delivers repeatable support processes. Investigates, documents and resolves issues escalated from Level II engineers.
- Provides guidance, training and support for more junior team members.
- Develop documents and delivers tools for support of UNIX/Linux systems.
- Works closely with Lead Engineer to ensure that the UNIX/Linux environment is supportable, maintainable and reliable.
- Develop and Maintain relationships with contemporaries globally.
-Service Support to include: liaise with Production Services to address escalated issues as required.
- Participate as required in problem management, configuration management and change management.
- Service Delivery to include: monitoring and operation of Unix servers
- Maintain technical documentation accurately depicting Standing Operating Procedures; Metrics Reporting
The ideal candidate shall have very good knowledge of the following Solaris activities:
- Operating System Installation
- Performing Advanced Installation Procedures
- File Systems Management
- User and Security Administration
- Managing System Processes
- Perform System Backups and Restores
- Managing Virtual File Systems and Core Dumps
- Managing Storage Volumes
- Controlling Access and Configuring System Messaging
- Configuring Naming Services
- Good knowledge in Apache administration, performance tuning and health monitoring
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Sun certification is an advantage
