Process Lead Specialist Project
1. PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To act as focal point for process engineering for ALSEJEEL Project/ plant (defined in Dimensions) .To provide technical support for ALSEJEEL project integration within area of responsibility.
2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
a) Prepares process studies relating to problems and bottlenecks to identify improvements.
b) Provides process engineering support to the plant for QRA, Risk Assessment and Environmental studies. Assists with integration of ALSEJEEL project.
c) Ensures all modifications are engineered and implemented in compliance with company safety and environmental and other standards, initiating HAZOP studies as necessary.
d) Supports engineering, production and environmental section on process issues.
e) Supervises the activities of assigned personnel.
f) Facilitates the training and improvement of process engineering skills of all development process engineers (Qatari nationals) in the section. Provides process input.to safety & environmental specialist.
g) Ensures the updating of all process documentation (PID, PFD, Material Balances, process data sheets) for all modifications. Assists in preparation of process data sheets and scheme to formulate capital expenditure and cost justification. Prepares package for GATE 1 & 2 CAPEX GATED PROCESS approval
h) Responsible to conduct performance tests of equipment and units to optimize plant variable costs and assists production to select the best chemicals and catalyst in terms of process.
i) Develops and carries out industrial trials for new polymer grades and for replacement of catalysts or chemicals to improve process and environment in compliance with regulatory authorities.
j) Reviews develops and updates the specification of raw materials, chemicals and catalysts and finished products to comply with new regulations
k) Reviews of technical offers from selected bidders for evaluation of new catalysts, chemicals, equipment and packages
l) Prepares enquiry document and coordinates basic engineering studies/feasibility studies carried out by consultants (outsourced) to ensure compliance with company, that requirements are met and recommendations are technically acceptable.
m) Uses software programs for simulation and heat & material balances & those to perform chemical engineering calculations.
n) Liaises with the Process Licensors and Equipment manufacturers to ensure that the plants are updated with the latest developments.
o) Performs other similar duties as assigned such as coordinating with Section Head in preparation of annual manpower budget.
3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
8 years' operational and technical experience in the petrochemical industry, preferably with knowledge of ethylene and polyethylene processes. Working knowledge of industry, regulatory guides and Codes.
Very good spoken and written English and computer literate.
