Corrosion Engineer (Maintenance)

- Residential position
- Monitors, tracks and keep under control corrosion phenomena on steel structures, vessels, pipe lines and equipment in the gas plant and offshore platforms.
- Ensures implementation of protection, corrosion and prevention programs.

- Tracks corrosion rates of critical process equipment, steel structures, sea lines, vessels and piping systems. Implementation of protection, corrosion and prevention programs.
- Carry out inspection of coating and painting conditions of the plants, pointing out any anomalies discovered and tests results.
- Coordinates intelligent pigging for sea lines inspection and its corrosion management.
- Performs life cycle cost analysis on metallurgy of process equipment and piping systems and provide recommendations to management on options..
- Provides technical input to strategies for maintenance repair and replacement specifications.
- Identifies and implements improvement ideas to improve operational performance increase availability and reduce maintenance costs.
- Evaluates effectiveness of corrosion inhibitor programs and make recommendations to management based on findings.
- Projects corrosion rates for process equipment and piping systems based on process conditions.
- Provides technical support to maintenance department and make repair recommendations to insure mechanical integrity and reliability.
- Reviews and approves welding procedures for process equipment fabrication and repairs.
- Fitness for service evaluation on existing gas plant process equipment and piping systems
- Prepares appropriate specific and periodical reports with full interpretation and recommendations.
- Provides technical input to capital projects and make metallurgy recommendations for new construction. Participates in plant modifications.
- Provides on the job training and development to Qatari national developees on metallurgy and corrosion issues, methodology analysis tools and techniques.
Enforces the implementation of Health, Safety and Environment Management System (QHSE) and also promote awareness of its use among all department personnel.
A. Knowledge
Education:
- Twelve years of education.
- Bachelor degree in B.Sc. in Materials & Corrosion, Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree. Minimum 5 years of continuous education and obtaining a recognized and accredited degree.
Experience :
- Total eight (8y) years corrosion management experience, with minimum eight years (3y) working as a corrosion engineer in a refinery, gas plant or petrochemical plant.
B. Skills:
Technical Skills:
- Intimate working knowledge of refinery or gas plant processes and associated corrosion and environmental cracking mechanisms.
- Experience with monitoring and optimizing corrosion inhibitor processes
- Knowledge of corrosion and maintenance repair techniques of oil and gas related equipment..
- Able to analyse corrosion data and determining trends in order to prescribe future inspection programmes
- Familiar with computerised inspection data management systems, such as CORTRAN, PACER, or equivalent
Managerial Skills:
- Effective communication and ability to write technical reports
- Strong analytical abilities
C. Competencies:
- Ability to work under pressure day or night
