We are looking for a Senior PHP developer with strong leadership skills
to join a multidisciplinary technical team. Reporting to the Head of
Technology you will join one of the most passionate and exciting teams of webdevelopers.
The primary focus of the role will be to architect, develop and support
the PHP back-end for sites and apps across a range of devices and
platforms. Technical excellence in LAMP technologies is essential to the role. You need to be able to write clean, readable, maintainable code in collaboration
with other developers. Your core skill set will be complimented with
expertise across a range of additional languages and frameworks.
This is a senior role that requires much more than just technical mastery. The technical team is integral to the development of concepts and ideas, as well as interaction design, technical architecture and coding. You will collaborate with Creatives, Strategists and Designers, as well as other Technologists to deliver innovative solutions and engaging user experiences.
Great communication, organisation and basic project management skills are essential. You must have a good understanding of Agile practices, be able to accurately scope and estimate the work of your team, identify and act upon risks to the project. You will be obsessed with quality (your code and others), champion our internal processes and industry best practice.
Translating UX wireframes and design mockups into technical architecture design and fully functioning web applications
Working closely with front-end developers, release engineers as well as quality assurance teams to ensure technical integration and the meeting of requirements
Authoring technical briefs for client approval and project development
Liaising with clients and vendors on technical issues
Breaking new ground, researching and implementing innovative web techniques and features
Problem-solving in all areas of web development
Mentoring junior members of the team and supporting Technical Directors
Required Skills:
Mastery of object-orientated PHP 5 within a MVC framework (YII/Codelgniter/Laravel/Zend experience preferred)
CMS experience with Drupal/WordPress
MySQL Server with pure SQL and ORMs e.g. PHP ActiveRecord
Linux and Apache sys-admin skills, comfortable working in Terminal
Deep understanding of architecture for scalable web applications, security, cloud based
Servers, load balancing etc.
Hand-coding advanced, standards-compliant HTML and CSS (including HTML 5 and CSS3)
Experience with front-end frameworks such as Bootstrap, Foundation and Jekyll
Expertise in JavaScript and knowledge of frameworks including JQuery, Angular and Node
Knowledge of WCAG AA standards, cross browser compliance and testing
Unit Testing and Test Driven Development (TDD)
Version control and bug tracking with Git and Stash
Automated deployment with Capistrano and Team City
Recent experience developing with social platforms and API's
