The Rotating Equipment Engineer is to provide engineering services related to rotating equipment to be purchased and installed for a specific plant construction project.
The Rotating Equipment Engineer is responsible to fulfill the following project requirements by exercising expertise and coordinating with the various parties involved in the project.
-Engineering quality
-Vendor equipment design and manufacturing qualities
-Overall project cost and schedule
-The Rotating Equipment Engineer is also expected to assist the Lead Rotating Machinery Engineer and to provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers in the team.
Major Duties
-The following are summary of major duties for the Rotating Equipment Engineer, which are normally expected in standard EPC projects.
-Preparation of general specifications for machinery
-Preparation of equipment data sheets for vendor inquiry
-Preparation of purchasing specifications (requisitions)
-Review and conditioning of vendor bids
-Preparation of vendor technical bid evaluation reports
-Review of process P&IDs related to rotating equipment
-Development of equipment control and safeguarding systems
-Development of auxiliary P&IDs related to rotating equipment
-Review of vendor drawings and documents
-Participation in plant design review activities (e.g., HAZOP, SIL Study, 3D Model)
-Preparation of design information needed by other disciplines
-Coordination with other disciplines for resolution of design interface problems
-Coordination with vendors and clients
-Support of vendor shop inspection activities (e.g., witness of mechanical run and performance tests for critical equipment)
-Support of construction and commissioning teams (equipment erection and commissioning planning, field material exception reports, troubleshooting)
Nature and Environment at JGC
- JGC's major business market is in the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of process plants, including offsite and utility facilities, in such fields as oil refining, petrochemicals, chemicals, and gas processing and treating.
In most projects, engineering activities center in the JGC Yokohama World Operations Center, where engineering groups are organized, while JGC also uses its branch offices and subsidiary engineering companies for execution of the project.

-The Rotating Equipment Engineer shall have the following experience and knowledge:
-Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
-A minimum of 5 years of experience in rotating machinery engineering in oil and gas projects, preferably EPC lump-sum projects.
-Knowledge of international codes and standards for rotating machinery, at least API standards.
-Good English communication skills
-Knowledge of standard international styles of business communication and experience in the preparation of business and technical documentation
