Role: 2 House Pedagogues / professional foster carers, ideally a couple – married or partners, but also two people/friends who wish to live and work together
Location: Nivan, 50km from Dublin

Salary: €38,000 – 45,000 (EURO) between 2 people. Accommodation, living and car costs are paid

Description:
The organisation is an independent community based residential assessment and treatment service for children and young people with complex needs who are experiencing emotional, behavioural and family problems. Residential care is provided in professional foster care homes run by couples trained in social care/pedagogy. Multidisciplinary assessment and treatment is provided by the clinical team, including clinical psychology, psychiatry, behavioural therapy, occupational therapy, play therapy and music therapy.

Main Responsibilities:

A professional carer/social pedagogue couple is needed to provide a home for a 12 year old boy; Ideally, married/partners, also two people/friends who wish to live and work together will be considered.
You will share the living space with the child and run the home, reporting to the manager and with support of other professionals. You will live with, nurture and socially educate the young person, offering a safe and stimulating living experience, with an emphasis on relationship building and social pedagogical principles.
You will collaborate with the relevant statutory agency and others involved in the care provision and planning for the young person. An emphasis is placed on collaboration with the young person’s birth family which is facilitated by the organisation.
Recording is also required.


CERINTE

Qualification/requirements:
• A couple where one or both is a/are Social Pedagogue(s)
• A driving license and willingness to drive in Ireland
• Excellent English (verbal and written)
• Computer literate
• Additional training in social care, psychology, art etc would be an advantage, but not essential
• Experience of supporting children and young people in children’s homes or fostering
• Ability to work with child care legislation
• Willingness to learn
• Reflective
• Adaptability and creativity
• Able to manage resources and facilities i.e. to run a home
