The Release Engineer will ensure Embarcadero product builds are automated to the fullest extent possible. Release Engineering ensures developers are able to build source into a defined binary package throughout the development cycle. Release Engineering is the focal point for work between developers, documentation, and the QA group. This position will collaborate closely with these functions to ensure Embarcadero products can be delivered on time and exceed customer expectations.
The ideal candidate is highly technical, detail oriented, and self-motivated. Candidate must be comfortable with a variety of operating systems and have excellent communication skills.
Our future colleague will have to:
•Manage build system and create installers for various products of Embarcadero Technologies in different stages of product development.
•Coordinate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and other departments as necessary to ensure final product is formally released for distribution.
•Extend automated build systems for new Embarcadero products.
•Ensure development issues such as build breakages are quickly escalated and resolved.
•Automate smoke tests/ unit tests and integrate them in the build procedures.
•Work with developers to pinpoint and resolve build issues.
•Extend build systems to provide better information for development and QA.
•Administer source control system; be able to branch, merge, and tag during development cycle.
•Develop and maintain custom tools that increase developer productivity.
Requirements:
•Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field.
•Knowledge of Windows operating systems, and OOP.
•Knowledge of scripting languages, experience is a plus (such as Ant/NAnt and other).
•Installerpackaging experience is an important advantage;
•Strong analytic skills, good problem solving skills;
•Experience of source control systems such as SVN/CVS/Perforce and administration of SCM systems.
•Good communication skills (English and Romanian)
•Ability to broadly understand product and company goals to design and implement improvements.
