Staff Specialist
in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry


In Aalborg, Denmark


Designation of occupation:
On the basis of the following job description, we are looking for one staff specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Terms of employment:
Staff specialist employed in accordance with existing collective agreement.
The first three months of the employment are a trial period.

Place of employment:
The psychiatry in the North Denmark Region

Immediate superior:
The daily leader – a consultant – on the outpatient or the inpatient unit

About the clinic:
The Child and Adolescent Clinic consists of 4 outpatient units for different diagnoses. We have an outpatient unit for anxiety and depression, one for ADHD, one for autism and psychosis, and one for eating disorders, which provides treatment for patients as well.

We have, in cooperation with the Psychiatry Department, established 4 inpatient units for patients with eating disorders whose treatment is performed at the Child and Adolescent Clinic. Furthermore, the Clinic has a 24 hour unit and centralized visitation. A psychiatric emergency and reception for patients of age 0-17 is conducted in cooperation with the psychiatry clinic, and a free clinic for children and adolescents with ADHD and disorders within the spectrum of autism is run by the clinic.

Main function:
- The main task of the staff specialist is to contribute to the clinic’s assessment, examining and treatment processes in an interdisciplinary clinical team with reference to the consultant in charge in the respective field
- The staff specialist undertakes training, supervising, consultative and administrative tasks related to clinical work. Research tasks might be added to these.


Area of responsibility:
In accordance with the psychiatric department’s mission, values and vision, the staff specialist is responsible for:
- Providing professional support and evaluation of the clinical work as a specialist, including tasks within assessment, diagnostics and treatment of patients.
- Leading clinical conferences
- Initiating and supporting that the clinical work is performed optimally within an interdisciplinary assessment and treatment environment; hereunder ensuring that the tasks, resources and competences are in balance; and at the same time assuring a flow of patients
- Taking part in the clinic’s professional work both at the outpatient and inpatient units
- Taking teaching and education responsibilities, hereunder clinical supervision of younger doctors and teaching of medical students during their internship at the clinic
- Performing supervision of doctors and other professional groups
- Performing consultative functions in terms of cooperation with other hospitals and other relevant cooperative partners
- Inspecting other hospitals and the psychiatric emergency unit
- Ensuring and supporting the execution of administrative tasks, including registration tasks, preparation of instructions, guidelines and other clinical documents from an evidence based basis; and contributing to accreditation and other quality insurance tasks
- Being part of relevant working teams according to the needs
- Functioning on a highly ethical level and always keep the generally applicable rules and regulations for doctors, along with regulations for the employees of the hospital.
- Taking part in the introduction of the newly employed doctors

level, with openness and transparency.


Competences:
In accordance with the psychiatric department’s mission, values and vision, together with the economic and human resource related targets, the staff specialist has the competences for:
- Taking responsibility independently within a given clinical, educational or administrative field with the approval of the team leading consultant
- Performing and ensuring performance of the clinical tasks, and that they are executed in an interdisciplinary environment
- Making relevant clinical priorities
- Keeping a proper ethical and effective treatment of high quality, with respect for patients, relatives, cooperation partners, applicable agreements and legislative regulations.
- Contributing to the development of a high professional standard at the clinic, i.a. by being an active member of the doctor team, and if agreed, by taking part in the supervision activities, relevant work teams and possibly in research groups.


Demands of qualifications:
- With another educational background than Danish, as a minimum, title of specialist doctor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, or corresponding title listed in the EU DIRECTIVE 2005/36/EC
- Relevant experience within child and adolescent psychiatry
- Good cooperative skills
- Preferably psychotherapeutic education on supervising level
- Preferably experience within supervision and teaching


Additional requirements:
- Professional command of English
- Motivation for living and working abroad
- Ability of taking part in the 6 months’ intensive language course in Budapest, starting in Autumn 2014
