The Hewlett-Packard (HP) R&D Center in Cluj-Napoca is seeking to hire a NAS Core QA Engineer. The R&D Center, established in March 2007, works on all of the major software products of HP’s Business Services Automation (BSA) unit. The BSA unit was formed from the recent acquisition of Opsware, Inc. There are currently 30 engineers working in the R&D Center; we expect this to grow to ~40 by mid-2008.
The person who fills this job will be responsible for working with the team of HP Engineers in our US-based facilities to test the quality of software modules that enable NAS to manage a wide range of networking devices.
We intend to fill this position immediately. We are looking for self-starters who want to work in a place where their efforts contribute directly to the success of a cutting-edge enterprise software company.
Qualifications
Overall Job Requirements:
- Develop test plans, test specifications, test cases, and test suites, using requirements documents and functional specifications.
- Perform manual acceptance, functional, regression, and performance testing.
- Configure and execute manual and automated tests in accordance with testing methodologies.
- Work with manager to develop accurate, realistic schedules and work estimates.
- Provide high quality bug reports to development, with emphasis on thorough information and reproducible steps.
- Bug regression and verification.
- Participate in Feature Team process to help identify product issues and enhancements.
- Configure and manage test systems, software images, and environments.
- Write release notes and knowledge base cases.
Ideal Candidate Background:
- Experience with Windows Server 2000/2003, Solaris, and Linux Experience testing web applications Experience with Oracle, MySql, and/or MSSQL Highly motivated, high energy, self-directed Ability to work independently or as part of a team Bachelors degree or higher in technical/scientific discipline.
- Minimum 3 years industry experience
- Good understanding of software quality processes Demonstrated ability to do accurate self-estimates and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, prioritize and focus.
- Demonstrated ability to complete testing features in a timely fashion while maintaining control and tracking of product quality and performance characteristics.
- Good communications skills.
- Team player; able to work well with peer Test engineers, manager and other functional teams.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, Telnet, Ethernet).
Plus Points:
- Experience with testing applications in a distributed environment.
- Experience with Oracle Multi-master and/or MSSQL distributed replication.
- Experience with network devices and technologies (examples: network engineering role; a position testing network management software; etc.).
- Knowledge of network devices & configuration (Cisco, Nortel, Extreme, Juniper, etc).
- Experience testing Java applications and related products/technologies.
- Experience with creating and executing test automation tools.
- Knowledge of Tcl/Tk, Expect/Perl.
- Knowledge of system management frameworks (HP Openview, Smarts, Unicenter, etc.).
- Experience testing localized software
