As a 2nd Level System Administrator you will provide advanced support and administration to meet internal SLAs and company objectives and you will be responsible for the health and operations of our services, with a main focus on operational activities, proactive capacity management and event monitoring.

What will your responsibilities look like?

Act as 2nd Level Support – Receive tickets that require greater technical knowledge or system access
Escalate unresolved problems to 3rd Level Support
Handle longer resolution incidents – e.g. longer than 10-15 minutes
Handle incidents that require greater technical knowledge or system access
Build knowledge base to ensure future response in incident management/1st Level
Involvement in the technical analysis and resolution of underlying problems
Ensure all Requests for Change (RFCs) are logged in the IT service management system
Oversee the daily performance of IT services
Enter commands and observe system functioning in order to verify correct operations and detect errors
Monitor and report IT performance against service levels and key performance measures
Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
Develop training materials and procedures or train users in the proper use of IT services
Continuously identify improvement opportunities and work to optimise platforms, processes and systems performance
Assist and participate in the internal projects of the IT department and in projects of external clients

What experience do you need?

4+ years of experience in Linux systems administration
Expertise in Linux operating systems
Strong knowledge of Apache, Tomcat, MySQL and PostgreSQL
Good knowledge of content management platforms
Good knowledge of Internet technologies and concepts such as DNS, routing protocols, TCP and UDP and higher level protocols such as HTTP, SMTP and FTP
