Role purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to contribute to the development of the company managed service business across Europe
Design, implement and provide 3rd line support for new customer solutions and services
Adhering to platform strategy ensuring Solutions are delivered on world class technology to meet the revenue, sales and profitability targets
Key accountabilities
Design, engineering and 3rd line support of infrastructure/tool-set, influencing technology, systems and operations stakeholders
Input to and support development of the technology roadmap for assigned the Managed Service Solutions
Ad-hoc responsibility as Technical Design Authority for Managed Services customer solutions, ensuring compliance with strategy and platform technologies.
Manage, create and maintain technical solution documentation
o Systems Requirements
o Technical Solutions Descriptions
o Test Plans and Evaluation Matrices
o Technology Research and White papers
Lead and manage new solution developments
o Close working with the Architecture and Solution Management team
o Produce the Technical Solution Description (TSD)
o Produce Technical Design
o Support Solution Development through the agreed Dev/Ops model
o Ensure technical readiness for Solution deployment/Customer sign-off
o Develop new cost structure and levels ensuring ROI in conjunction with pricing team
Lead and manage the standardisation if applicable of existing solution technology platforms across Europe and activities to simplify or streamline the portfolio
Working as part of virtual teams across Europe
Provides out of hours on call support as part of Dev/Ops team responsibilities
Build and maintain relationships with both vendors and service providers
Experience
Design and implementation and 3rd line support for complex managed IT customer solutions.
Good understanding of Unix/Linux server environments, with hands-on configuration and troubleshooting experience.
Expertise with VMware virtualisation technologies.
Direct Experience of deploying server infrastructure as part of Cloud based technology solutions both virtual and physical.

Experience of IP networking
Experience with Fibre Channel SANs
Experience of all levels of vendor products/offerings including
o Red Hat Enterprise Linux
o VMware vSphere
o Cisco UCS server hardware
o Cisco network products
Experience of OS/App level clustering
Experience of UNIX/Linux security and OS hardening
Experience with enterprise backup technologies in both physical and virtual environment.
Experience of hypervisors
Experience of scripting.
Experience of OS performance tuning.
Knowledge of dual factor authentication
Knowledge of monitoring and management systems inc metrics such as EMC ECC, NetApp, Hobbit/Nagios (Opensource), Zenoss, IPSoft
Desirable knowledge and experience
Experience of VDI technologies
Experience of VMware vCloud Director
Experience of CloudStack
Knowledge of Windows Server (inc AD)
Knowledge of SAN storage technologies including

Extremely well organised with an ability to handle and digest large
amounts of information from a variety of sources
Proven analytical ability across internal business operations, related
industries, markets, competition etc.

Self-motivated and an ability to work within matrix and virtual teams to
meet objectives
Knowledge
Ideally has a good amount of Solution/product engineering experience in the Technology or Service provider related industry
In-Depth understanding of global developments in technology
Qualifications
Degree Level or overseas equivalent ideally within Engineering or Information Technology field (EC, IT, EEE)
Technical certifications or overseas equivalent in an appropriate field, e.g. VCP, RHCE desirable
Languages
Additional EU language would be advantageous
