The Packet Telephony Software Applications Team, part of Networking & Multimedia Group within Freescale Semiconductor Romania, has the mission to provide DSP based Software Solutions in the areas of Voice & Tone Processing, Video processing and data transmission. Software solutions include complete voice and video media gateway solutions, real-time operating systems, protocol stacks, and software components for voice and audio processing, tones detection and generation, fax/modems data transmission.
For almost a decade, the Packet Telephony team has been designing, delivering and deploying high quality solutions to some of the top OEM (Original Equipment manufacturer) in the telecom industry. The team’s product portfolio continues to expand in emerging areas like unified communications, advanced interactive voice response systems and high definition audio processing as part of Freescale’s next generation of solutions for the media market segments.
The holder of this position will be in charge with the entire life cycle of all software components developed by the Packet Telephony team, as well as with the coordination of all team’s engagements with 3rd party organizations which the team is collaborating with.
As a Software Project Manager you will have to perform the following activities:
- To manage the development process and the implementation process of Freescale’s products and services involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing products and technologies
- To plan and to drive schedules and budgets.
- To monitor the project/program from initiation through delivery, support and maintenance
- To organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget constraints.

- Work on projects and assignments of broader scope, complexity and impact

- Contribution (as part of Freescale business groups project management office) to the continuous improvement of the project management processes and procedures within Freescale
- Broad application of principles, theories, and concepts in software development plus working knowledge of other related fields (embedded systems, telecom systems, networking, DSP architecture etc)

To ensure your successful performance in this role, the following working experience is a must:
- At least 2 years of project management experiences – driving projects from initiation through delivery - for technical projects with at least 6 months duration and $100.000 budget
- Strong experience in resources optimization and resources allocation within the projects managed
- Demonstrated previous project management experiences in critical situations (lack of time, budget or resources) during the projects phases
Any of the following aspects reflected by your professional background will bring an advantage for your application:
- Bachelor degree – preferable in Computer Science; Computer Engineering or Electronics
- Leadership role in projects/programs regarding networking equipment development or implementation of telecom solutions
- Good command of English (speaking & writing)
- Project/program management skills
- People management skills
- Knowledge of SEI CMMI
- Knowledge of networking technology/equipment (switches, routers, voice/video gateways etc)
