Job Title: Software Development Engineer
Location: European Development Centre, Dublin Ireland
Reports to: Lead Developer
A successful candidate will be working closely with the Windows Live Mobile Services team in Redmond to build a rich platform that will enable new classes of applications on consumer mobile devices across Europe and around the globe. We¿re looking for a strong software engineer to help design and build a customizable and extensible application development platform on top of ASP.NET and MMIT (Microsoft Mobile Internet Toolkit) framework targeting ASP.NET 2.0. This platform will be consumed by Windows Live Mobile application teams as well as other Windows Live partners to easily and quickly enable new MSN & Windows Live mobile browse (HTTP) applications and scenarios.
- Identify development and design patterns, platform requirements and will then work on defining and implementing a shared framework that will be used for the next generation Windows Live mobile browse applications.
- Work with the carrier deployment team to understand infrastructure needs that are driven by carrier and network operator standards and procedures
- Incorporate common features into the Mobile Browse Platform. A key goal for this platform is to also enable broad device coverage in markets where device compatibility standards are still emerging and evolving.
Minimum Requirements:
- 4 years experience in shipping high-quality software is a must
- Strong technical background
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Must have solid C#/C++ skills and are expert ASP.NET developers.
- Ability to own and independently drive the design and development of feature and component to completion
- Excellent communication and cross-group collaboration skills with solid written and oral communications skills, and an ability to build relationships both within and outside the team.
- Fluent English.
- Prior experience in designing/developing software platforms and/or SDKs will be considered an added benefit.
- Experience working on and be comfortable with debugging and tuning high performance server-side software in a multi-threaded environment.
- Experience developing with MMIT, WML/XHTML/CHTML and other related web and web-services technologies is a plus.
- A BA/BS/MS in Computer Science is preferred.
