The MSG (Microcontroller Solutions Group) Enablement Application Engineering Team is a customer facing team which is responsible for owning the customer experience for all Enablement technology surrounding MSG solutions (which includes Industrial / Multi-Market / Automotive and goes from 8-bit to 32-bit processors) for Freescale.
The role of Software Applications Engineer entails interacting on a day-to-day basis with customers via phone and email to resolve technical support issues and manage the customer experience. The position is also responsible for generating technical content such as knowledgebase or FAQ s, whitepapers, internal training, and sample applications on a quarterly basis. Travel should be expected in the position with the possibility of customer visits and fulfilling internal and customer training requests.
1. Manage the customer experience for customers of Freescale using MSG technology via email and phone interaction.
2. Maintain accurate and informative details of customer interactions using tracking database software.
3. Troubleshoot both hardware and software contained within various embedded system configurations.
4. Work concurrently with remote and local development teams via Instant Messenger, email, and phone to resolve issues.
5. Isolate software bugs and develop test cases to demonstrate software bugs from customer input.
6. Capture and isolate feature requests from customer input.
7. Participate in formal document reviews for external and internal use.
8. Develop proactive technical content such as FAQ s, whitepapers, and sample applications.
9. Provide feedback to management and product teams based on customer feedback.
10. Develop internal training modules for cross training purposes
To ensure your successful performance in this role, the following working experience is a must:
- Programming embedded systems (hardware & software, C/C++, Assembly).
- System expertise and RTOS knowledge (e.g., OSEK, RTXC, CMX, uCOS, MQX, SmartDSPOS, etc.)
- Experience in working with Linux in an embedded environment is a plus;
- Ability of quickly learning and grasping new technologies
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
