• Principal responsibility is HW/SW support of the global UNIX infrastructure.
• Provide 3rd level support service, troubleshooting and resolution for Fault/Failures and Service Requests made by our customers through the call logging system
• Provide general administrative support to the various teams (but mainly to remote locations) executing the IT process together with any associated & resultant activities in order to help support Misys products / engineers
• Enforce incident, change management and other compliance processes
• Maintain appropriate documentation and inventory for the IT environments you are dealing with
• Specify order, assemble and install hardware. Install and configure operating system software plus third-party system tools, database systems, applications and products.
• Perform software upgrades and new software installation both pro-actively and in response to requests from users of systems, including any necessary patches to operating systems and applications to ensure continuing stable and secure operation.
• Implement appropriate data access and security measures, including access control, audit, backup/restore and system rebuild & recovery processes, in order to safeguard data integrity and maximize availability.
• Working with the IT team leader, implement & test Business Continuity measures in order to enable continued operations of computer systems identified as requiring such protection in accordance with the corporate Disaster Recovery program.
• Excellent system administration skills in Solaris OS
• Proficient in Linux server administration
• Working knowledge of AIX server administration
• Very proficient with backup systems including design and UNIX/Windows client support
• Proficient in Solaris Virtualization technologies – ldoms, zones, containers,
• Working knowledge of AIX server virtualization -LPARS, VIO, HMC
• Proficient in Windows interoperability – SAMBA
• Proficient in disk volume managers – Veritas, solstice and zfs pools.
• Proficient in NIS, NFS
• Good in server patching, Software update
• Good in performance tuning of servers.
• Good understanding of server networking- DNS, Routing, Sendmail, apache
• Good in scripting –shell, perl
• Working knowledge with storage systems and preferably SAN technology
• Good communication skills and the person will work more with the global team.
• 4 - 6 years experience
• Able to work between 11AM – 8PM, with 1 hour lunch break.
