- Be the catalyst for ensuring successful project delivery
- Create detailed schedules and drive software development projects forward through and around roadblocks, including tracking progress and issues
- Work with other managers across functional areas such as marketing, product management, quality assurance and operations to ensure timely and high quality project completion
- Ensure quality of deliverables
- Assist Product and Engineering Management to balance tasks across resources to optimize efficiency
- Track third party deliverables and ensure that external dependencies are factored into project plans
- Effectively communicate across functional areas and to executive management on project progress, issues and risks
- Identify key issues/roadblocks for project and aggressively find solutions that allow the team to stay on track
- Build cross-functional projects plans and ensure timely and effective communication across functional area
- Pragmatically apply and own formal project management techniques, skills and methodologies
- Optimize scope within constraints of cost, quality and time
- Maintain project issues and risk logs and facilitate the resolution of issues and the mitigation of project risks
- Apply Betfair Project Management processes, controls and techniques in a pragmatic manner
- Troubleshoot, problem-solve, and negotiate compromises to make sure that roadblocks are anticipated and tackled to minimize impact to schedule, quality and functionality
- Track, report and communicate action items and key project milestones via weekly reporting i.e. burn down reports
- Assist with the production of business cases, on-going business case validation and support the definition of the product deliverables
- Develop and maintain a strong in-depth knowledge of Betfair products and use this knowledge to refine focus and influence product directions
- Contribute to weekly programme status reports
- Develop and maintain an awareness of stakeholder requirements
- Mentor, coach and train other project managers
- Securing Project resources
- Create and maintain Project morale
- Facilitate Project Meetings and Project team co-ordination
- Interact and co-ordinate Project Stakeholders
- Contribute towards continual improvement of Betfair project management processes
- Aid the implementation of SCRUM
- Maybe asked to be a SCRUM MASTER
- Experience of project management in a similar environment
- Certification or extensive experience of formal project management methodologies such as Prince2 or PMBok
- Proven experience successfully managing complex projects from inception to delivery
- Experience writing specifications and executing project plans from these documents
- Exposure to more than 1 software development approaches/methodologies (e.g. Agile, Iterative, Waterfall etc)
- Experience and understanding of running Agile projects
- Demonstrable ability to pragmatically apply project management methods
- The ability to effectively manage simultaneous projects
- Ability to interact constructively with cross-functional team members. Recognize and focus on critical path activities and instill that focus into others
- Negotiation and consensus building skills – with developers, customers etc
- Good management and team building skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
