• Execution of the exploration projects, in a safe and timely fashion to ensure that the value of the asset is enhanced. Implementation of strategy to facilitate delivery of the agreed exploration programme.
• Maintain & develop strong communications & relationships with partners, with Exploration management in client and key personnel within the region to ensure knowledge sharing and that approvals are secured in a timely and smooth fashion.
• Define an annual exploration programme and resource requirements, manage exploration resources to achieve agreed delivery commitments. Manage the QC of exploration project work & maintain appropriate records, secure internal & external approvals for agreed activities.
• Develop appraisal programmes for any discoveries and agree with the Asset Management Team.
• Ensure compliance with all terms & conditions of licenses & relevant agreement
• Manage all exploration contracts, including, but not limited to, drilling
• Generate and manage project budgets on annual basis
• Ensure completion and submission of quarterly and annual government reports
• The post-holder will be responsible for developing, communicating & implementing the asset exploration strategy so that it contributes to the overall client business strategy.
• Build a consensus to support the strategy with the right resources.
• Any contingencies are communicated at the earliest opportunity to the Management Team is aware of all exploration acquisition opportunities in the region
• Assign work priorities in consideration of operational requirements
• Provide training to local staff and develop success planning
• Provide training material to assist in technical technology transfer in many of the operational work areas
Managing partner relations
• Responsible for managing stakeholder relationships successfully, influencing those stakeholders and using leverage adroitly to negotiate in the best interests for client.
• Needs to ensure that any issues arising that affect client as a whole are communicated to the Management Team
• Maintain a network of industry professionals and ensure the Company
• Regularly familiarise and inspect working areas on a regular basis
• Determine and pursue operational improvements, safety deficiencies and improvements in and around the work areas

• Attend communication and co-ordination meetings, as required
• Regularly discuss safety aspects of assigned duties
• Ensure all activities are in compliance with all conditions of the mining licence, government departments and agencies
• Minimum of 10+ years relative post graduate experience within an Oil and Gas company
• The ideal candidate would be an experienced Petroleum Engineer or Production Technologist who has a track record of exploration activities, delivering results.
• Fully conversant with financial aspects relating to E&P core business activities.
• Key to the role will be communications skills, particularly with business partners and Board members.
• Dedication to excellence in HSSE.
• Direct hands-on experience of working in developing countries, with track record of outstanding performance delivery
• Experience with different cultures and an appreciation for how to conduct business in a diverse region.
