The Mission:

The ETL Architect role will cover the following areas:

- determines the optimal approach for obtaining data from diverse source system platforms and moving it to the data analytics environment.
- assists and coaches ETL specialists during the course of their individual projects
- works closely with the Architecture team, Data Warehouse development team and Business representatives to analyze needs and develop architectural requirements to ensure client satisfaction with product.

Your day to day:

- This work includes constant refinement activities to standardize and implement new functionality based on experiences learned during the course of specific projects
- Assess current technical architecture.
- Estimate system capacity to meet near- and long-term processing requirements.
- Develop ETL technical architecture, including Data Quality, Metadata Management and Data Migration solutions using DataStage.
- Define and implement ETL development standards and procedures
- Conduct impact assessment and determine size of effort based on requirements.
- Design the system components / ETL automation for the extract/transform or conversion of data from source systems to the target application (including historization, surrogation, data quality, error handling components ) based on company’s IBM DataStage based ETL framework
- Create technical documentation
- Ensure effective ETL functional decomposition into deliverable objects
- Ensure ETL quality through inspections and knowledge sharing
- Resolve difficult developments issues. Identify bugs and implement/recommend solutions when developers are not able to do so.
- Interface with DBA staff.
- Develop and manage the BI dependency plan, job scheduling and cycle management.
- Develop disaster recovery strategy.
- Determine and ensure execution of backup and recovery strategy.
- Continue to investigate and evaluate emerging BI technologies.


What you bring to the team:

- A degree in Computer Science, a related discipline, equivalent work experience of 7+ years overall IT or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired
- Must have architected and implemented large scale end-to-end Data Integration/ETL, Data Migration and Data Quality solutions using DataStage, and Metadata Management etc.
- Must have full understanding of IBM Infosphere Information Server product suite and hands-on tool experience
- Must have 3+ years experience with DataStage
- Must have experience in implementing information warehouse and dimensional solutions
- Must have experience of executing complete life cycle of Data Integration/ETL projects with understanding of delivery, testing and support aspects.
- Must be able to work independently and have skills like planning, estimation, scheduling, etc.
- Strong analysis and design skill
- Strong experience with business intelligence and data warehousing design principles and industry best practices (experience with Industry models such as BDW or FSLDM is preferred)
- Ability to design and develop complex ETL mappings, sessions, workflows and identify areas of optimizations
- Experience with Oracle RDBMS 10g or 11g
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are required
- Proven ability and desire to mentor/coach others in a team environment.
