DB2 DBA Job Description:
We are looking for a candidate with a strong DB2 DBA background on Linux or AIX platform and great communication skills. The candidate have to be a team player able to work independently. The candidate will but be responsible for production and non-production databases. Day to day duties would include checking the databases health, checking databases backup process, making changes, maintenance, analyzing the performance of the DB, reviewing the code is correct, etc, basically a physical DBA. The candidate would be working also close with our development department and will consistently be involved in databases migration or replication solutions and strategies along with the day to day duties for optimal performance of the DB.
Oracle DB admin skills would are considered a plus.
Duties:
1. Responsible for all production and non-production application DBA support and application integration.
2. Responsible for DB2 performance analyzing and maintenance
3. Responsible for reviewing if the code is correct
4. Responsible for databases backup/restore policies for databases and archive logs using IBM Tivoli products
5. Investigate and resolve all database crashes, failures, and unexpected behavior
6. Installation and support of DB2 software and patches
7. Troubleshooting performance issues, design and implementation of solutions
8. Planning and Execution of databases maintenance, including Reorgs, Deletes
9. Responsible for DB2 databases monitoring using IBM Tivoli products

¿¿¿ Oracle DBA experience a plus
¿¿¿ Large scale DBA Experience
¿¿¿ Exposure and knowledge of standard SDLC
¿¿¿ Strong analytical and communication skills
¿¿¿ Ability to work independently and on virtual teams
¿¿¿ Strong attention to detail and documentation
Minimum requirements
- 5 or more years DB2 DBA experience
- 3 or more years hands on experience with SQL
- Ideally would like candidates to have previous experience working for software development company
- Should have experience working in large complex enterprise data operations environment
- Proficiency with Linux and the shell environment
- Experience in supporting critical production infrastructure
- IBM Tivoli Monitoring and Storage Manager experience
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
- University degree in Computer Science or related field
- DB2 or Oracle Certifications a plus
