RESPONSABILITATI

Main Purpose of the job:

Deliver administration, release management, change control, support, consistent interface and consultancy for production implementation for the domains in a Telecommunications environment ensuring platforms, services and components are installed and configured to agreed milestones, cost and quality.
Create, administer and update development, testing and training environments. Capture lessons learnt and best practice to improve the test environment configuration methodology and approach.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate proven experience of systems administration and configuration and software installation in a multi-national global environment and is ideally Configuration, Change and Release Management certified.

Responsibilities

- Planning and execution of Testing activities
- Create, administer and update development, testing and training environments
- Perform documentation acceptance and build releases accordingly for IT Systems;
- Improve existing tools, design and develop new ones for automatic environments set-up, update and monitoring;
- Prepare sub-sets of data from production environments and deploy them to non-production environments;
- Identifies risks associated with the testing environment configuration and takes preventative action to ensure requirements, quality and timelines are achieved
- Identify and raise defects using the agreed methodology and tools
Technical Competency
- Prepare QA infrastructure and environments for testing, including data creation and special tool development and execution
- Participate in test planning sessions to assist with environment and infrastructure setup and needs
- Coordinate with testing team to resolve infrastructure issues during testing
- Validate software deliveries and the technical documentation associated
- Provide consultancy regarding hardware and software architecture for non-production environments;
- Provide deployment instructions; ensure support and consultancy for production implementation.
- Participate in the analysis of results and the defect management and resolution process.

- Resolve risks within the Test plan communicating to all appropriate stakeholders when plans, processes and / or schedules are not aligned
- Communicate and escalate any risks / issues for resolution to the Test Team Lead
- Produce estimates and provide feedback to the Test Team Lead for planning and scheduling purposes.
- Analyze testing environment configuration status and make Go / No Go recommendations for production

Requirements

Technical Expertise

- Strong technological background, with degree level qualification in Computer Science, Telecommunications or equivalent
- Good general understanding of IT, including application development, version control tools, database and networking
- Operating Systems: Solaris, HP-UX, Linux, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows 2003;
- Networking TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP;
- RDBMS: ORACLE, MS SQL, MySQL;
- Programming: Perl, shell scripting, C/C++, Java, PL/SQL, T-SQL, Visual Basic, VB Script, PHP;
- Network services: telnet, ftp, ssh, http/https, SCP, rlogin;
- Software developed by third party: Tuxedo, Weblogic, Apache, Oracle Application Server, WebSphere
- Working knowledge of Test Management tools (HP Quality Centre preferably)
Professional Experience
- Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible IT infrastructure experience (systems administration, software configuration and installation, etc)
- Programming experience of min. 1 year
- Strong HP/Mercury Quality Centre software configuration skills
- Knowledge about Virtualization would be an added advantage
