Adecco, the worldwide leader in HR solutions is recruiting for one of its clients, a multinational asset management company, a highly professional Chief Fund Accountant with financial services background
The Chief Fund Accountant works both locally and globally, reporting to the Financial Reporting & Operations Manager in Bucharest. Although this is principally an accounting and financial reporting role, it includes involvement in certain areas of operations.
Romanian Accounting /Tax related Activities
The Chief Fund Accountant will be responsible to ensure full compliance of accounting records (timely, accurate and documented) with the Romanian Accounting and Tax Laws:
• Ensures fully compliance of accounting records (timely, accurate, documented) with the Romanian Accounting and Tax Laws;
• Responsible for a proper day-to-day bookkeeping: working in GL, accounting in the proper period, fully based on valid documentation;
• Proper archiving of the documents to ensure efficient reach and full safeguards around company records;
• Periodic filling of tax and related returns, proper and timely calculation, submission and settlement of liabilities to the state budget according to tax regulations (Profit Tax, WHT, VAT (if applicable);
• Prepare and maintain payroll records;
• Proper and timely set up and maintenance of all the registries and tax fillings required by the Romanian Fiscal Laws;
• Ensures the overall company awareness of modification in tax legislation;
• Maintains professional relations with tax authorities, tax advisors, manages the periodic audits from the authorities;
• Supervise / perform weekly/monthly reconciliation of Romanian ledger to core systems / records (IFRS).
• Supervise and work with the global and local teams to ensure daily reconciliation of cash and custody positions are performed accurately and on time;
• Work with global partners to ensure accurate and timely processing of all local corporate actions on global systems;
• Work with global operation partners on any operational issues arising and provide support locally to portfolio managers as required.
Financial Reporting Activities
Main responsibilities:
• Preparation of annual / semi-annually / quarterly financial statements in accordance with Romanian Accounting Standards and submission of these financial statements to the local authorities (Fiscal Authorities, Trade Register Office, CNVM, BVB, etc. (where applicable))
• Additional local regulatory reporting
Secondary responsibilities (partial involvement):
• IFRS financial statements and additional related reports
• Board reports, client reports, and various ad hoc internal documents
• Distribution rates and yield calculations for accuracy and reasonableness
• Net Asset Valuations reporting
The Chief Fund Accountant will also be responsible for supporting the Manager by:
• Working with the staff to ensure all internal and external customer deadlines are met accurately and on time.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:
• Degree in accounting, finance or business with coursework in intermediate and advanced accounting.
• At least 6 years of experience in book keeping and preparation of financial statements in compliance with Romanian Accounting Standards
• Knowledge of IFRS is required
• Experience with automated financial systems, including a general ledger and financial reporting software, is required (e.g. Ciel)
• Experience in mutual fund accounting or financial administration and reporting desirable
• A knowledge of investment business, including tax requirements, market practices, local regulatory environments, financial instruments is preferred
