- Successful candidates will be experienced IT professionals and will be part of a team of highly qualified professionals involved in the implementation of critical software solutions.
- The AIX Administrator will be directly supporting the following:
• Perform standard AIX / UNIX Systems administration tasks such as:
• system building (from cd/dvd, tape (mksysb), NIM)
• Capacity planning, based on application requirements, number of users, etc.
• System patching, upgrading and migration via alternate disk method
• system troubleshooting (hardware, software )
• network troubleshooting ( traceroutes, tcpdumps )
• Requires HMC knowledge (setup and configure L/M PAR's for use in dynamic environment, move / reallocate resources, firmware and software upgrading )
• Volume group creation and management
• Logical volume creation and management
• Userid creation and removal
• Able to use TSM or Netback backup software for backup and recovery of system and data files
• Security management
• Use of sudo and sudoers file to restrict/control superuser priviledges
• Best practices: (umask, user and group permissions, .profile, hosts.allow, hosts.deny, use of ssh, no telnet)
• basic korn shell scripting and debugging
• Maintain Websphere and Rational software releases in AIX environment.
• University Degree in Computer Science or other relevant discipline
• At least 5 years of experience in IT;
• 3+ years of aix system administration;
• Experience with any of the following is highly desirable: AIX P-Series hardware, AIX v5.3 and higher, AIX Virtual IO Server (VIOS). Technical expertise also include strong administration and maintenance of AIX Builds using HMC, NIM, mksysb, HACMP management and LPAR, on pSeries p550 thru p595.
• Is an advantage:
o Disaster Recovery experience
o Websphere MQ DB2 knowledge is an advantage
o SAN Storage Administration
o AIX and Websphere certifications.
• Fluent in English
