• Provide 2nd level support function for maintenance support and rectification of incidents and problems with assigned FAS systems.
• Escalate incidents to the 3rd level support and follow on their status using the dedicated IT Service Management tools and procedures
• Ensure, monitor and review proper server and workstation installation, configuration and operation of FS systems.
• Assists with the FAS system administration of UNIX, LINUX and Windows based operating systems.
• Ensure proper configuration and operation of assigned systems.
• Performs interoperability tests for assigned FAS applications.
• Identifies FAS problems relating to applications.
• Performs FAS backups of Exercise and Operational systems and data.
• Provides training for support/operational staff
• Synchronisation and replication of databases as required.
• User data migration as required.
• Works with a wide variety of database technologies
• Develops and conducts database maintenance practices/planning
• Monitors usage, generates reports, identifies and manages database security issues.
• At least 3 years experience administering Functional Area Services systems or similar mission dedicated systems/C2 applications
o WEB Services,
o Service Oriented Architectures (SOA),
o Administration of WEB servers,
o Virtualisation technologies,
o Experience in testing of software applications.
o Database administration of any of the following
Microsoft (MS) SQL Server
Oracle Database
POSTGRESQL RDBMS
• Strong interpersonal skills, be able to work within a team environment and have strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Completion of Communications Information Systems (CIS) university degree or completion of vocational training leading to formal software systems related
technical or professional certification.
• Familiarity and be capable to make effective use of the Microsoft Office toolset.
• Fluent spoken and written English (3/3/3/3).
(2) Desirable Skills:
• MS SQL Cluster technology administration
• Knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) concepts,
• Knowledge of and experience with VMware.
• Knowledge/Experience in project management principles/processes
• 4 years experience in C2 S/W system administration
• Previous experience of a military or CIS environment
• Experience in the CIS Service Desk support arena
