Experience Level 10-15 / Education Level Bachelors Degree The Windows Engineering Team is looking for someone to help us engineer some of the large changes in the Windows Environment. The team provides solutions required to support/maintain the 190,000 desktops in use in the firm. The ideal candidate will be a Windows Infrastructure specialist with extensive experience/knowledge of the Desktop operating System, Active Directory, associated infrastructure components and third party products. The role is project based, with numerous activities to expand and enhance the current technologies provided within the environment. The Windows workspace team is a global engineering team that provides a stable, yet agile and dynamic infrastructure platform to support the business functional requirements whilst managing associated risks. The candidate will have a very strong technical foundation as well as a strategic mindset, good communication skills and the ability to collaborate well with others. The core responsibilities of this role include: - Engineer and provide 3rd line support for Desktop operating system, Active Directory. - Engineer/sustain existing/new technologies into the firm. - Ensure products meet the necessary security, supportability, performance requirements. - Create, review, maintain and update documentation. - Dissemination of knowledge amongst colleagues.
- Active participation within and amongst teams and colleagues, providing constructive feedback when necessary. The candidate must demonstrate strong technical qualities in a global environment.
Skills Required :
1. Strong English skills.
2. Deep technical understanding of Windows 7 Desktop and Windows 2008 Server operating systems.
3. Knowledge of common third party tools used to manage/support large environments.
4. Strong troubleshooting mindset (i.e. parsing event log, Sysinternals tools, analysing memory dumps).
5. Experience of large scale desktop deployment tools and techniques.
6. Knowledge of common Windows Infrastructure i.e. Active Directory/SCCM/GPO
7. Scripting ability (PowerShell, VBScript, batch etc.).
8. Ability to write technical design and operational management documentation.
9. Desktop/Laptop/Server hardware knowledge.
Skills Desired:
1. Experience of working in a large scale and global environment.
2. Understanding of desktop and server virtualisation technologies (VMware, Citrix)
3. SCOM, SSCM, Windows Clustering and SAN.
4. Some development experience/knowledge (c#, Silverlight)
