To design & develop low level embedded software for automotive electronic modules (particularly instrument clusters, body electronics, and centre display modules) following the department’s formal design procedures.
Design, development, coding and unit-testing of embedded software:
To plan and follow-up the software development in our projects.
Design & develop software (primarily in C) for microcontrollers with limited resources.
Preparing and issuing of documentation of the software design, test, code, release, etc.
Discuss software strategies and solutions with customer.
Interface and communicate with other participating software engineering organisations (Yazaki and outsourcing).
To act as a mentor for the less experienced software engineers in the department.
Participate in quotation activities where duties include:
Deciding microprocessor concepts and other hardware components (memory sizes, external reset circuitry, wake-up circuits, etc…)
Estimating resource requirements (memory, clock, ports, etc…)
Estimating development lead-times.
Prepare and present chosen software strategies and development procedures to customers.
Evaluate and select software test and development tools (compilers, emulators, debuggers)
To assist with the development and implementation of standardized software design methods and processes.
To investigate and keep up to date with new software design methods and techniques.
To co-ordinate and participate in benchmark activities such as research, record and present customer profiles and trends.
Minimum requirements:
5 years software design of embedded applications (min. 2 years in automotive domain).
Excellent knowledge of real-time programming in C and assembler.
Very good knowledge of embedded software engineering tools and practices.
Basic understanding of electronics hardware design.
Presentation skills.
PC operation (Word, Excel, etc).
Desirable requirements:
Experience with:
- instrument clusters and/or body electronics development
- display systems such as LCDs and TFTs, stepper motors
- generic platforms, reusable software, AUTOSAR
- S12(X), MPC5xx microcontrollers
Knowledge of Automotive SPICE and/or CMMI, ISO TS16949.
Knowledge of automotive network systems and tools such as CAN, Lin, CANoe, etc.
Knowledge of high level modelling tools suitable for embedded software. (Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow, Statemate, etc.).
Knowledge of diagnostics protocols.
