Definitions:
VALUE STREAM
- All the actions, both Value creating and Non-Value creating, required to bring a product from concept to launch and from order to delivery. These include actions to process information from the customer and actions to transform the product on its way to the customer.
VALUE STREAM MANAGER
- An individual assigned clear responsibility for the success of a value stream.
- The Value Stream may be defined on the product or business level (including product development) or on the plant or operations level (from Raw material to delivery).
- The Value Stream Manager (VSM) is the architect of the Value Stream, identifying value as defined from the customer¿s perspective and leading the effort to achieve an ever shortening value-creating flow.
- The VSM focuses the organization on aligning activities and resources around value creation, though none of the resources (money, assets, people) may actually ¿belong to¿ the Value Stream Manager.
- Thus VS management distinguishes between responsibility, which resides inside functions, and departments holding the resources.
- The role of the functions is to provide the resources needed to achieve the value stream vision, as defined by the Value Stream Manager.
- The VSM leads through influence, not position, and thus can be equally effective in a traditional functional organization or in a matrix organization, avoiding the common failure of matrix organizations, which is the loss of clear responsibilities, accountability, and effective decision making.
Main responsibilities:
- Manage resources to achieve Transformation Cost targets
- Achieve required Output Linearity to meet customer needs
- Achieve, and continually improve, targeted product and process Yield metrics
- Drive and own the Lean/6 Sigma behaviour and actions within the Value Stream
- Ensure that the Value Stream implements and adheres to the Site Governance Process
- Responsible for meeting customer Quality requirements
- Continually develop a Future State
- Create the Kaizen Game Plan for the Value Stream and ensure that a minimum of one Kaizen event is performed per week
In summary: The goal of the Value Stream Manager is to deliver the Golden Triangle of Customer expectations: Quality, Flexibility and Cost Competitiveness through the deployment of the client's Production System (Lean & Six Sigma).
PERSON ¿ higher weighting more important:
- 10 - 3+ yrs experience as an Operations/Business Unit Manager - production/engineering/materials/etc - in a high volume/mix batch manufacturing environment - ideally electronics or electro-mechanical products.
10 - Leadership personality - role model, standard-setter, coach, motivator - clear vision, challenges status quo.
10 - Demonstrates strong process management skills/methodologies - logical and process-driven approach - highly developed analytical skills - data-driven but decisive, accountable, pro-active
10 - Strong listening, communication and influencing skills ¿ verbal, written and formal
10 - Excellent reasoning ability - to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
10 - Customer passion - demonstrates and drives others to listen to, interpret, and exceed customers' expectations - internal and external
10 - Problem-solving role model - solves problems with intangible factors in creative and effective ways -executes/drives resolution of critical issues through effective application of best practices - can work on multiple, complex problems requiring evaluation of several variables within the Value Stream
10 - Fluent verbal/written English and Romanian are a must
9 - Talent development - demonstrates experience in performance development, teaching/leading and mentoring - recognizes and develops talent as a key element of executing operational business plans.
9 - Commercial acumen - ability to understand and act on business/financial reports and KPIs.
9 ¿ Computer literate ¿ MS Office, ERP systems, manufacturing control systems, etc
9 ¿ Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field subject
9 - Good appreciation of LeanSigma methodology, and can demonstrate application of similar thinking/tools - ideally black belt trained
9 - Ideally experience within electronics manufacturing - SMT and final product assembly/test
8 - Ideally experienced Manufacturing Process or Work Methods Engineer within a high volume/mix electro-mechanical manufacturing environment
