This position will focus on operations scrap, failure cost and warranty improvements aimed at significantly reducing Steering Wheels's Global failure costs.
The selected candidate will further develop problem solving capabilities with SWS plants and support high impact CIS projects. Activities would involve identifying opportunities and plant leads from failure cost and capability data, developing projects and providing coaching/training especially for advanced problem solving methods (Shainin Red X, etc.). It is expected that these activities will result in improved process capability and “First Time Through” (FTT) and global read across of lessons learned.
The candidate will also take a lead in resolving major product performance issues within Steering Wheel plants globally where fast, effective root cause analysis is critical.
- Signficant experience (5-6 years) in problem solving and proven application of statistical problem solving (Shainin Red X) for operations improvement;
- Ability to diagnose and root-cause technical and process issues;
- Proficiency in Excel (especially with advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables);
- Strong analytical and problem solving sills;
- The candidate must be able to communicate at all levels of the organization and must be able to provide clear and concise summaries status on an on-going basis;
- The candidate must possess initiative, high degree of motivation, strong communication skills and be a team player with flexibility of schedule;
- Candidate must be able to be a task completer and also be able to train and coach others in the application of problem solving techniques and completion of projects;
- Travel to all global SWS plants will be required in order to support projects and problem solving - travel is projected to be 50- 70% of time;
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related techical field required;
- Six Sigma Green Belt minimum and Shainin training required; Shainin and Six Sigma Black Belt problem solving certifications preferred.
