This role will involve working with:
The Business Change function within Credit Risk Control, to understand and analyse requirements, and identify the impacts on the analytic systems
The methodology groups, to ensure that appropriate models are implemented to measure risk for the full Bank portfolio
The front office (trading desks) and Data Sourcing groups to verify correct modelling of trade structures within the systems
The development teams and system architects to resolve ambiguities and address questions relating to the solution design
Global Services Delivery to ensure that the product delivered from the system on a daily basis is of a production standard for the risk managers in CRC
Credit Officers and Risk Managers to provide support for any queries on the risk measures produced within the analytic systems and to assess the impact of changes before go-live.
This is a broad, challenging role that requires a combination of business awareness, product knowledge and technical knowledge, coupled with strong client-facing and interpersonal skills. The chosen candidate will come to understand all the products that an Investment Bank trades through a detailed understanding of the way that risk is measured for each of them.
To be effective in this role the candidate must:
- Have strong analytical and communication skills
- Be structured and systematic in their approach
- Have good Oracle database skills
- Ideally have analysis experience working with Risk Calculation Engines
- Have experience of reverse-engineering system functionalities to identify scope of change requests
- Have strong numerical skills and be financially aware
- Have experience of data analysis; particularly in relation to Risk Management or Financial product processing
- Have experience of structured methods and tools
- Experience of Business Process Analysis and Modelling - ideally using UML
- Be able to prototype potential solutions with technology commensurate with the analysis e.g. MS Office products, SQL, Unix
- Enjoy working to deadlines to realise the business benefits associated with IT projects
- Be enthusiastic and highly motivated
Desirable experience includes:
- Relevant business experience in Financial Services, for example within a Credit Risk (or related) role or a Business or Systems Analyst role within a relevant business function
- In-depth knowledge of one or more financial products which attract Credit Risk
- Experience in, or understanding of, Mathematical Finance
- Familiarity with the systems architecture associated with a Risk Management function or Financial Systems in general
