The Storage Support Engineer focuses on continuous operation of our customer’s backup, SAN, and storage environment. The main responsibility is to ensure data storage consistency and recoverability.
Backup is mainly based around HP Data Protector, secondly on Legato Networker, and Veritas NetBackup.
The main storage arrays are XP, EMC, and EVA. SANs are based around Cisco, Brocade or McData products.
The Storage Support Engineer works on solving and preventing incidents, problems, helps develop storage and backup concepts (software/hardware), configures new implementations, consults TL and customer, keeps contact with the customer and provides monthly SLA reporting and metrics to the AST.
Perform tools upgrades and patching, Follow best practices process and cooperate with Tools engineering it’s improvements, Ensure documentation is up to date
Personal Skills:
Excellent analytical problem-solving skills
Good communication skills, fluent in English
Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems or equivalent experience
Essential:
• 2 years practical experience in 1 or more of Cisco, Brocade, McData switches
• 2 years practical experience in 1 or more of XP, EVA, EMC storage arrays
• 2 years practical experience in managing large SAN Fabrics
• Knowledge of at least 2 of HP-UX, AIX, Tru-64, Solaris, Linux system administration
• Knowledge of Win200x Server
Preferred:
2 year practical experience in HP Omniback / HP Data Protector / Legato
General HP OpenView experience ( ITO Monitoring, OVPA Reporting, …)
Good skills in planning concepts for Storage and Backup environments
Experience of database administration for Oracle, Informix, SAPDB, MSSQL, MS Exchange or Lotus Notes “Domino” Databases
Knowledge of ITSM, ITIL or equivalent Service Management qualifications
SNIA certification or similar storage qualifications
