Senior QA Engineer
As a Software QA Engineer, you will work with web-based and windows software projects developed primarily on Microsoft technologies. You will be responsible for writing test plans and test cases and running these cases in a test environment. This will include both manual and automated testing. You will log bugs in a defect-tracking system and communicate with the software engineers as needed to resolve problems.
Duties:
- Define and execute end-to-end test cases through dynamic user interfaces as well as interacting with back-end services.
- Perform functional, application, regression, compatibility and performance tests.
- Develop quality assurance standards.
- Define and track quality assurance metrics such as defect densities and open defect counts.
- Work with the in-house development team to develop, publish and implement test plans.
- Work closely with project stakeholders to define product expectations and acceptance criteria.
- Help identify ways to enhance testing strategy with new tools, processes or techniques.
- Provide stakeholders with concrete measurements of product quality.
- Represent QA in design and functional requirement reviews.
- Interact with Program Management regarding new and existing features.
- Interact with Support to test customer issues.
- Discover, document, and assist in the resolution of issues.
- Take ownership for the quality of the product that is released.
Qualified candidates will have 2+ years experience in the following:
- Previous software testing experience.
- Proficient in writing and executing SQL queries for diagnostic purposes.
- Ability to read technical error logs
- Experience in creating test cases and plans.
- Strong problem solving, organizational and communication skills.
- Self-motivation, a desire to learn how things work, and the dedication to master challenges.
- Ability to operate autonomously with general supervision.
Desirable:
- Bachelors degree in a related field or 4 years equivalent experience
- Experience with Search Systems a Strong Plus
- Experience with SQL Server
- Experience with scripting and automation.
- Experience with .NET or Java applications
- Experience in web application and Middle Tier environments.
