We are looking for a strong engineer to join us to work on an exciting firm management project (FMP QA) opportunity. The engineer will work on development and integration of systems which will separate QA and PROD environments. This will include modification of tooling to handle entitlement and configuration elements for QA and Prod. We expect that the new tooling will see significant uptake from all customers across all business units, and we are looking for a committed individual with the drive and determination to make the project a success.
The role involves engineering, support and maintenance, and a significant amount of customer communication. In addition, it involves a significant amount of interaction with global operations teams (in locations including Canada and India) that provide support and coverage for the product. The technical skills that we looking for are a good understanding of core infrastructure (operating systems, file systems, high availability and cluster solutions), experience with Perl, Java, XML and distributed systems. Communications skills, both verbal and written, will be essential to succeed in a customer facing role such as this one. The ability to work in a team (including cross regional) and the ability to build relationships with customers is a must. The ability to understand customer requirements and take ownership of problems through to resolution is also important. Finally, the ability to establish process for operations teams will be necessary as well providing best practices for the production environment.
Solid experience in Object Oriented Perl
-Experience in Java
-Proficient in Linux/Solaris/Windows, including scripting and an understanding of process management
-An understanding of high availability and clustering technologies
-A strong understanding of XML
-Strong verbal and written skills required to interact with a global teams and customers
-Ability to work with customers, gather requirements, and own the task of finding solutions
-Strong presentation and documentation skills
-A solid understanding of change management processes
-Experience with VCS (would be an advantage)
