Location: Cabinda Gulf, Angola
Rotation: 28 days on / 28 days off

Advises National technicians in all aspects of mechanical equipment installation, operation and maintenance, modification, troubleshooting, calibration, testing and repair. Equipment includes: Gas turbine packages, including turbine engine, compressors, pumps, generators and controls; natural gas and diesel reciprocating engine packages, including engine, compressors, pumps, generators and controls; electric motor driven packages, including compressors, pumps, fans and controls. Typical service of turbine packages include power generation, gas compression and mechanical drive water injection. Typical service of reciprocating equipment includes natural gas engine driven generator and pump packages and diesel engine driven generator and firewater pump packages. Major pump types include single and multi-stage vertical and horizontal centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps and progressive cavity pumps. Compressor types include centrifugal, reciprocating and screw.
Mentor to Angolan technicians, providing effective OJT both in the field and in the workshop. Recognizes and takes advantage of training opportunities in the work place as they arise. Is responsible for working with designated Angolan personnel in achievement of individual Job Skill Assessments (JSA’s). Serves as a technical resource to provide the training and guidance to allow the National Technicians to successfully troubleshoot and repair unusual or difficult problems. Works with supervisor and Training Coordinator in developing training and career development plans for those being mentored. Based on observations of National Technician's performance, provides input to MTC to assist them with continuos improvement in their training program.
Advises National technicians in the investigation and root cause analysis of recurrent equipment and component failures, seeking solutions and recommendations on corrective actions to be taken. Reviews equipment performance, work methods, processes and procedures for opportunities to increase reliability and efficiency of machinery and reduce maintenance costs. Identifies opportunities to apply RCM concepts and advises National Technicians on how to best incorporate these concepts into their daily duties. Advises employees in the use of the Management of Change Process and documentation of changes. Ensures quality of work and that repairs and modifications meet recognized standards and manufacturers specifications. Trains National Maintenance Employees in the utilization of the best available maintenance practices and repair methods to ensure that all equipment is maintained at its optimal level of performance and condition.
Advisor to the National Maintenance Staff when working with Facilities Engineering on new projects, platform upgrades and modifications of existing equipment. Possesses the technical expertise necessary to advise National staff on making informed, educated decisions on equipment selection, procurement and installation procedures, with the objectives that all new facilities and equipment are standardized as much as possible, the equipment selected has the lowest total cost of ownership available, and that all facility designs allow for safe working access with necessary lifting equipment designed into the facility to safely perform maintenance and repairs. Provides technical support to other work groups as need including Facilities Engineering.

This position requires: A high degree of safety awareness; in-depth knowledge of all types of oil field machinery and operational processes; the expertise needed to effectively maintain equipment and systems common to oil and gas production/treating, water extraction, treating and injection, NGL and LPG extraction, hydrocarbon storage facilities, and power generation; cross-functional maintenance knowledge including a through understanding of the concepts and application of Reliability Centered Maintenance; a clear understanding of all operations processes; a working knowledge of oilfield economics including an application of Total Cost of Ownership principles; the skills to transfer knowledge to National technicians and trainees to maintain Incident Free Operations, maximize equipment reliability, minimize equipment downtime and minimize OPEX; demonstrated commitment to the achievement of departmental and CABGOC operating plan targets and objectives.

Frequently visits facilities to ensure that Operations and Maintenance employees are operating and maintaining the equipment within established operating parameters and proven maintenance practices. Advises Maintenance and Operation staff on:
-HSE and Company policies / guidelines
- Maintenance practices to increase reliability of equipment and reduce operating cost
- Preventive, predictive and proactive maintenance procedures
- Maintenance of reference materials in each work location such as Equipment Manuals and drawings
- Troubleshooting and problem solving techniques
- Job planning and execution procedures

As advisor for National personnel: Provides written input to the appropriate supervisor for National Employees' PMP sessions. Champions, encourages and exhibits Chevron Way behaviors and BASIC safety concepts.
