Function: Instrument & Control Systems Engineer 2
Department: Instrumentation
Reporting: Reports to Project Manager and Section leader.

TASKS:
- Has proven to be successful in aforementioned tasks, however, has a much broader technical background.
- Is able to function as Lead Engineer for middle-sized and large projects and is as such responsible for the technical and commercial quality of the work in his/her group.
- Must supervise the entire scope of instrumentation for large and very large project, as member of a task force.
- Must be up to date on all corporate standards.
- As required, must be able to set up a "General Instrument Specification" if the client is not in possession of a standards specification.
- Reports progress of the work; is responsible for planning and estimating.
- Must be capable of supervising several small projects at one time.
- Ensures that personnel under his/her supervision is up to date on company/project standards and procedures and that they are correctly applied.
- Must be able to make man-hour cost estimates for Proposals.
- Must be able to give presentations to potential clients as candidate for Lead Instrument and Control Systems Engineer.
- Takes the responsibility for on-the-job training of Instrument Engineers reporting to him/her in a lower function.
- Independently, in discussion with the Lead Instrument and Control Systems Engineer, makes individual evaluations of personnel that have worked under his/her supervision.
- Interviews freelance candidates and makes the selection for required position within a project.
- Is able to work independently and is in control of all technical aspects of the applicable instruments and systems.
- Is in the role of Lead Engineer responsible for the overall coordination of the relevant EPC work processes and reports as part of the project management team to the Project Manager.
- Is able to define a scope work and related estimates and set up systems for progress reporting.
- Is responsible for screening of P&ID's.
- Is able to prepare an installation subcontract and technical evaluation of the bids.
- Is able to carry out the required inspections for seller produced instruments or systems in cooperation with the Inspection Department, or independently.
- Must be capable and willing to take on a field assignment or transfer to another office as stated in the company policy.
- Is responsible for keeping himself up to date on the required studies for further development concerning control and safeguarding systems.
- Shows flexibility and ensures proper hand-over with regards to:
- The reassignment to other departments.
- The replacement of colleagues during illness and holidays.
- The provision of assistance to other colleagues with heavy workload (also other projects) when possible/desirable.
- The managing/learning of current/future working methods and software applications.
