JOB DESCRIPTION

1. BASIC FUNCTION
To ensure that assigned Plant Modification Projects (PMPs) are executed according to Borouge procedures, specifications and relevant international code & standards. Focal point for all assigned PMP’s starting from conceptual design till execution and final close out. To provide Instruments/Control engineering input to other disciplines as well as other departments/ Functions.

2. WORK PERFORMED & SKILLS:
• Mainly responsible / leads Instruments/Control related Plant Modification Projects, raised through Change Requisition by mainly Operations (olefin and polyolefin) and other departments.
• Provides Instruments/Control discipline input to the lead PMP team member in other discipline (Electrical / Mechanical / Civil) projects as required.
• Coordinates and obtains other disciplines and concerned parties inputs required to complete the assigned tasks including PMPs.
• Provides detailed studies and proposals to the client / requesting department for pre-project, detail design and construction purposes.
• Coordinates with various departmental interfaces to finalize and agree on the final solution to plant operation problems related to projects.
• Prepares work scope for the consultant, Reviews the design works and studies performed by Engineering Consultants and ensure that they are in accordance with the technical requirements. Review and approve drawings, specifications and technical; documents for all Instruments/Control design related work.
• Carries out technical bid clarifications, assessments and evaluations on tendered equipment, engineering services and projects/studies.
• Follows up the progress of the assigned projects through different phases for safety, schedule, budget, and quality
• Provides regular feedback on the project status and whenever required.
• Prepares instrument datasheet and other technical documents for materials/equipment procurement and review / approve manufacturer’s documents.
• Works in close liaison with the Planning Section for getting the projects scheduled for execution and material aspects.
• Reviews the work of draughtsman on Micro station and In-tools related to control discipline.
• Assigns new instrument tags and index for the new instrument / points in DCS, ESD, PLC.
• Participates in HAZOP studies pertaining to the proposed plant modification projects
• Utilizes Project System Module in SAP (software) to monitor / control PMP cost.
• Communicates with OEM / Vendors for further consultations / advice required to implement the proposed equipment modification.
• Participates as Company representative specialist on equipment inspection and performance testing at Vendor’s workshop or at Borouge Sites.
• Prepares instrument/control scope of work for execution contractor whenever utilized to complete any projects as well as coordinate with other disciplines in preparing construction tender package for multi-discipline projects.
• Provides technical support / advice to execution team in the field.
• Prepares method statement(s) for plant modification projects’ critical activities.
• Participates in task risk assessment (TRA) for critical activities in the plant related to the assigned PMPs.
• Reviews and approves PMP As-Built documents and ensures proper hand over to Document Control System.
• Reviews and updates Borouge design and project general specifications for all instrument aspects in accordance with the latest available technology, standards and experience gained through previous projects.
• Participates in technical audits on Consultant/Engineer/Contractor/ Vendor offices, during pre-qualification and to monitor their performance during a project.
• Provides mentorship and guidance to newly graduated local engineers.


CERINTE

• University Degree (BSc or higher) in Control/Instrument/Electronics/Electrical Engineering.
• 8-10 Years of work experience in instrument/ control engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and project management for small to medium projects
• Good working knowledge of relevant international standards and project management.
• Be fluent in English, written and oral.
• PC Literate in MS Windows, Excel, MS Office and project related software.
• Good communication, interpersonal and analytical skills. Team work within the team /across departments and proactive approach to problem solving.
• Cultural sensitivity.
