Purpose:
- Ensures that all appropriate HSE policies, standards and procedures are fully integrated into the engineering design of the project such that once the project is commissioned and operations commence, all intended HSE policies, safety systems, environmental standards, mitigation measures, etc. are capable of being met by equipment, operating procedures and maintenance practices.
Responsibilities:
- Implements HSE policies & procedures covering proposed project, including HSE Risk Assessment Plan, Goals and Objectives
- Maintains communication on HSE issues with the General Manager Engineering & Construction
- Contributes to the preparation of a Health, Safety and Environmental Management Plan
- Ensures application of company HSE philosophy in contractors designs/plans
- Ensures that HSE facilities are being appropriately incorporated into the facility design
- Participates in the hazardous area classification, and design of fire suppression systems, fire zones and drainage, equipment isolation systems, detection and alarm systems, and establishment of all other HSE related systems and integrates information into engineering design
- Coordinates HSE systems closely with the Project Services / Controls Manager
- Participates in contractor meetings and design reviews
- Hosts regular safety meetings and documents attendance
- Provides input to the collection of Lessons Learned for the project
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- international projects experience
- Bachelor Degree in Business, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering or related fields required
- has clearly demonstrated strong technical competence
- working knowledge of relevant engineering & construction codes and standards
Required Competencies/ Skills:
- demonstrated interpersonal/teambuilding skills
- ability to work within a diverse cultural environment
- fluent in both written and spoken English language
- capable in using specific PC software
