For our branch in Sibiu we are looking to take onboard an UNix Lead Engineer with solid experience and Solaris certification.
Please note that this role is based in Sibiu and you will have to be available to work in this location. Do not apply if you do not meet the required criteria, otherwise your application won't be taken into account.
Aditionally this role may require travel across Europe.

Role purpose:

This position is part of a Pan-European team responsible for the support of UNIX based IT infrastructure. This role will provide hands-on L3 operational support for internal and external managed services customers. The role requires flexibility to work on callout duty (on a rota basis) and occasional out of hours work at datacentres.

Key accountabilities:

•Provide on-going support in all areas of UNIX infrastructure, including planning, installation, maintenance, administration of servers and software applications.
•Complete ownership of problem and incident management, various audit compliance of the UNIX environment for all Colt customers.
•Dealing with all types of UNIX related incidents to ensure that Service Level Agreements with customers are adhered to.
•Technical leadership for all/assigned UNIX related projects.
•Influences design and development of new and changed systems and services to optimize operational efficiency and contributes to definition of associated standards and techniques
•Build and maintain working relationships with key service provision and vendor partners
•Strong communication and interface skills to other functional areas within colt managed services.
•Develop and maintain procedures and working practices for the efficient and effective running of all tasks associated with operating and controlling installed hardware and software.
•Work closely with own & other infrastructure team members across EU & India
•Flexible to perform On-Call, Out of office hours activities, travel abroad for short term basis depending upon Business requirements

Experience:

Mandatory

•In depth knowledge of Solaris and Linux (Redhat or Suse).
•Sound working knowledge of OS Patching procedures.
•Hands on knowledge of Installing OS on new servers.
•Good working experience with Unix clustering Solutions.
•In depth knowledge of Unix Mail, (Postfix, Sendmail)
•In depth knowledge of Unix security - Openssl, ssh, scp, ldap, iptables, tcp wrappers, syslog etc
•Expertise in Logical Volume Management
•Hands on knowledge of Storage technologies - SAN, DAS, NAS
•Very good knowledge in Network troubleshooting DNS, tcpdump, snoop, Network Interfaces
•Familiarity with various hardware architecture.
•Expertise in Perl/Shell scripting
•Sound knowledge of ITIL Framework

•Must be Customer focused and understand the customers service requirements.

Qualifications:

•Mandatory
◦Minimum of 8 years with at least 5 years of relevant work experience
◦Certified Solaris Systems Administrator, RHCE
◦ITIL v3 qualification

Colt began in 1992 with funding from Fidelity Investments. Within a year we’d completed 15 km of our London network, and been granted a PTO licence so that we could offer voice and transmission services. We soon had our very first customer.

We then signed various interconnect agreements and by 1995 had completed the initial phase of our network in London’s West End. Our European expansion continued as we raised new capital, won many awards, and began to work in Spain, Switzerland, and deepen our presence in France and Germany.
