The postholder will provide services mainly in acute paediatrics as indicated on the provisional job plans.
The postholder will share in the Middle Grade on-call rota on a 12.5 hour shift pattern on a specific day as indicated on the provisional job plans. The postholder will also do a 1 weekend cover in 8 or 9 (yet to be confirmed) as 12.5 hour shifts.
It is expected that the postholder will participate in the teaching of junior doctors, nursing staff and medical students from Sheffield and Hull York Medical Schools.
The postholder will be expected to fulfil the requirements of the Royal College of Paediatrics regarding Audit and CME.
The Trust has formulated a Study Leave Policy to enable this minimum commitment to be undertaken. Individual specialties will wish to make organizational arrangements for local CME to be completed and this will be reflected in the Job Plan.

* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
* Eligibility for full GMC registration at time of appointment.
* Evidence of a minimum of 4 years (FTE or equivalent) postgraduate training in Paediatrics or a recognized equivalent training. This is defined as:
* Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice including:
o Good clinical care
o Maintaining good medical practice
o Good relationships and communication with patients
o Good working relationships with colleagues
o Good teaching and training
o Professional behavior and probity
o Delivery of good acute clinical care
* Evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competencies in Paediatrics at time of application and likelihood of achieving ST2/CT2 competencies in Paediatrics by the start date of the post or being able to demonstrate achievement of the necessary equivalent competencies.

* Up-to-date knowledge
* Good spoken and written English
* Meets professional health requirements
* Relevant specialty clinical knowledge, judgement and practical skills including up-to-date APLS/EPLS and NLS. Out of hours experience relevant to job.
* Proven ability to work effectively in different clinical settings required for the job.

* Empathy and sensitivity and work in partnership with patients
