Key Responsibilities / Duties:
• Advanced SQl and PL/SQL Development
• Creation of high performance SQL and PL/SQL and in-depth tuning of both
• Contribute towards physical database design
• Creation of thorough, demonstrable unit testing
• Conduct code reviews, by and for peers
• Provide support for the day-to-day running of the data warehouse
• Participate in an on-call rota for the data warehouse
• Innovative technical design and creation of technical specification
• Creation of technical documentation that shares knowledge effectively
• Engineer feature and performance improvements, adhering to and feeding back into company standards and guidelines
• Review product requirements to give development estimates and product feedback
• Work closely with data warehouse QA engineers as part of an Agile software delivery team to jointly deliver quality software
Key Skills and Attributes:
Essential:
• Experience in PL/SQL development on large data warehouse > 1TB
• Experience of working with ETL from highly transactional OLTP systems
• Expert in set based SQL and procedural PL/SQL
• Experience of Oracle 10
• Experience of database performance analysis and design
• Experience of various source code control repositories (Perforce)
• Experience of Agile development practices
• Proactive work ethic with the ability to deliver results and meet challenging deadlines
• Good communication skills (written, oral, presentations)
Desirable:
• Experience of Oracle administration
• Experience of replication technology
• Experience of performance monitoring using in-depth Oracle features and performance tuning of Oracle SQL
• Experience of MS Analysis services 2005
• Experience of workflow tools and defect tracking tools (JIRA, TestTrackPro)
• Experience of working on distributed database systems
• Knowledge of the gaming industry and an interest in sports
• Experience within high volume transaction and/or financial services industries (eg banks, stock exchanges)
• Experience with customer centric industries and mission critical quality software standards
• Educated to degree level in a science or technology related field
