The Design Engineer is responsible for all aspects of a project from concept through production release. This position, on occasion, may be required to manage additional internal (technicians, QC) and external resources (mold shops, possible outsourcing), providing leadership on large projects as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
- Observes all safety policies and practices.
- Ensures that projects are developed, planned, designed, tested and produced in an efficient and profitable manner.
- Works with Marketing and Manufacturing to develop a plan of action that matches their needs with our capabilities.
- Facilitates the completion of projects on schedule with appropriate documentation.
- Responsible for the testing and validation of the product.
- May conduct research and/or field testing of newly developed products.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education: Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- Experience: Some engineering experience in overall project responsibility from concept to production would be useful.
- Experience in using at least one type of 3-D CAD is essential.
- Studies in designing plastic injection molded parts and assemblies, plus various bonding and assembly techniques such as sonic, heat, or laser welding.
- Enthusiasm and willingness to learn are essential to the achievement of growth in the company.
- Requires the use of analytical and observational skills which demonstrates an ability to organize, budget, forecast and control engineering programs.
- Operating systems knowledge.
- A working knowledge of reading the English language is required to communicate with customer service organizations and to participate in Toro training programs.
