- Leads the coordination and management of the material cost activity for selected customers in a particular market segment;
- Work requires application of in-depth knowledge of professional standards and precedents in area of specialty the individual in this role should be able to perform Cost Engineering responsibilities independently;
- Will be accountable for departmental results and for activities or projects involving multi-functional teams;
- The individual will provide supervision to subordinate team members; and train, mentor and guide less experienced Cost Engineers within job functions;
- Builds internal and external relationships, with emphasis on those that facilitate the achievement of job/role accountabilities, such as relationships with key suppliers, customers and internal service;
- Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may have a negative impact on the division???s /department???s operations, schedules, and/or performance goals;
- Prepares material pricing independently for new business opportunities (bids) including generation of Bill of Material, cost analysis, negotiation with suppliers, collaboration with Commodity Management and presentation to team leaders and managers;
- Actively manage costs to ensure Celestica is bringing cost reduction value propositions to the customers proactively;
- Participates in kick-off meetings and interacts with global customers units as well as counterparts in other regions;
- Audits and analyzes quarterly cost variances;
- Consolidates, tabulates, analyzes and reports on various commitment and performance metrics.
- 4-6 years relevant experience SCM, CM background is required;
- Broad knowledge of the marketplace conditions for the area of specialization including industry pricing, technology and supply/demand trends;
- Working knowledge of Celestica s global supply chain including strategic policies and objectives;
- Contract Law: able to execute to established template contract terms - able to execute to complex / unique contract terms;
- Strong knowledge of basic computer applications and the ability to learn and use multiple applications specific to this department including ERP and office systems;
- Knowledge of purchasing principles and procedures;
- Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills;
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers;
- Strong ability to work effectively across functions and with Customers/Supplier to achieve Celestica's goals;
- Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines;
- Ability to evaluate, prioritize and problem solve a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion;
- Change management: understand & respond to change in business process actively suggests business process improvement premised on an expert knowledge of a process / function.
