Single point responsible for all discipline design services to Company, ranging from conceptual, front-end, detailed design, as-built and close-out.
Organise, assign and control discipline personnel, such that work is progressed efficiently without compromising on quality.
He/she shall report directly to the Engineering Manager. Provide leave relief to Engineering Manager as appropriate.
Single point responsibility for the integrity and quality of all work within the discipline.
Resource and personnel management within discipline.
Ensure effective communication and interface definition between all disciplines for design development, review and check processes.
Represent Contractor in co-ordination with Company discipline CFDH for monitoring and variance control of Company standards.
Ensure robust challenge of Company standards as part of normal work practice.
Identify potential applications for new technology in discipline area.
Actively train and encourage the development of Omani and junior personnel to fulfil discipline engineering roles.
Review and control any discipline design work carried out by third parties (Vendors or sub-Contractors).
Provide detailed discipline engineering input during all design phases, including interpretation of standards.
Lead discipline specific design reviews (HAZOP, SAFOP, IPF, etc) and participate in other discipline design reviews as appropriate.
Provide highest quality discipline input into conceptual design teams.
Degree in discipline specific engineering (B.Sc./B.Eng/M.Sc) and membership of internationally accepted applicable professional Institute.
Minimum 15 years experience in the design and specification of upstream oil & gas facilities with extensive experience in conceptual studies, front end and detailed design.
Fully conversant with relevant International (ANSI, ASTM, API, BSI, IP, ISO, ASME, IEC, IEEE etc.) standards.
Minimum of 5 years experience as discipline head or as senior discipline engineer.
Due to extensive use of European standards, must have proven successful experience for large European clients with facilities built in UK/Europe to UK/European standards.
Experience with Company and/or Shell Group projects and standards (SPs / ERDs and DEPs) is strongly preferred.
Field experience in construction & commissioning is strongly preferred.
Proven ability to communicate, delegate, and motivate the discipline team.
Possess the potential to develop into a multi-disciplinary engineering manager, as a minimum.
PC literate.
Fully conversant with pipeline design codes (API5L, API6D, NACE, ANSI/ASME B31.4, 31.8, VIII, IX). Experience with GRE pipelines, hot tapping and stoppling of pipelines.
