Job Title: Registered Medical Practitioner

Overview of role and main responsibilities
Registered Medical Practitioners use their clinical expertise to carry out medical examinations and provide medical advice on people who claim various types of benefit. They forward their reports to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) where decisions on benefit entitlement are made.
Examinations are performed in one of our 150 Medical Services Examination Centres nation-wide or in the claimant’s home. Full training is given to allow our Registered Medical Practitioners to become specialists in the field of Disability Assessment. Some doctors may wish to progress to obtaining the Diploma of Disability Assessment Medicine (DDAM), approved by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine.
If you are looking for work that involves no nights or weekends this may be the answer. However, there is an opportunity to work in your spare time to augment your income, if you wish to.

Proven experience
experience as a General Practitioner or experienced in related disciplines which require the exercise of broad based examination, investigation and diagnostic skills
Academic and professional qualifications
a medical practitioner who has, since full registration, consolidated their clinical skills with a minimum of 3 years’ post registration general medical experience: a background including
rehabilitation medicine, disability assessment or psychiatry would be an added advantage
full unconditional registration with the General Medical Council

Package Summary
Salary
• Basic Salary £54,600 per year
• Out of hours work (overtime) available by agreement
• Paid in arrears on the 20th of each calendar month
• Determined by experience
• Reviewed Annually
GMC
• Doctor renews annual GMC registration and can claim back on company expense
Medical Indemnity
• Covered under a corporate policy for work carried out for the client
Annual Leave
• Annual leave year runs from 1st January to 31st December
• 25 days annual leave
Pension
• Stakeholder Pension Scheme (money purchase scheme)
• Employee may contribute varying rates
• Providing Employee has contributed 1% or more the Employer will contribute up to 10% in line with the Employees contributions (From April 2008)
Life Assurance
• Pension Scheme Members have death in service benefits, 4 time salary. Those not joining the pension scheme receive 1 times salary as life assurance (Subject to Medical Underwriting)
Income Protection
• The client insures the income of employees unable to perform their insured role due to Injury or Illness (subject to satisfactory medical evidence).
• The cover provides for up to 75% of salary less Statutory Deductions and Statutory State Incapacity Benefit.
Private Medical Scheme
• Employee cover paid for by the client
• Option to cover dependants (salary deduction)
• Currently provided by AXA-PPP Healthcare
Personal Accident
• The client provides Personal Accident cover
• The cover is applicable 24/365 worldwide
• The cover provides 1 x basic salary in the event of death due to accident
• The continental scale of benefits also applies for disablement due to loss of limb, eyesight etc.
