- Providing technical support to customers of Sun Microsystems Inc. based in the EMEA region
- Creating action plans to be carried out by Sun Field Engineers for hardware replacements on customers’ sites
- Resolving hardware and software problems related to entry level and midrange servers and the Solaris Operating Environment
- Escalating cases to higher level of support adhering to escalation procedures.
Experience Rigorous:
- Previous experience in IT
- Practical knowledge of Linux and Unix systems
- Fluent English in speaking and writing
- Essential networking skills (LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, FTP, SSH)
- Good troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to work proactively and productively when unsupervised
- Ability to form part of a cohesive team with collective responsibilities.
Experience Preferred:
- 1 year of experience on a similar position
- Good knowledge of hardware (desktops, servers, disk arrays, tape libraries)
- Experience in administering LAN networks and/or in administering of a name service such as NIS, NIS+, DNS, LDAP
- Experience in administering one or more of the following operating systems: Solaris 9/10, Windows 2000/2003 Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SuSE Linux Enterprise Server
