RESPONSABILITATI

The role: Server & Network Engineer

- Provide technical, hands-on Windows Server, Citrix, VMWare and Cisco skills for the support, protection and development of the server, office network and VOIP telephony environment.
- The main role is providing expert support for the Buck UK 75+ server and SAN environment, covering application, file and print, and infrastructure servers in multiple locations.
- There is an additional role in maintaining the UK WAN and LAN environment in each office, to ensure the delivery of IT services to the desktop.
- Proactive administration of the server, WAN, LAN and Comms Room environment to ensure optimum performance, reliability and security
- Server, WAN, LAN and desktop trouble shooting and problem resolution in a timely manner.
- Liaison with US IT departments on international WAN matters, email and other centrally delivered services.
- Documentation of the technical environment, both configuration and operational procedures.
- Project management and implementation of infrastructure projects, working with the business and the Consulting Technology Department (applications), to introduce new applications and IT services.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of business continuity plans utilising third party off site locations.
- Carry out such other duties and take on additional responsibilities as may be agreed from time to time.
- The nature of the role requires some work to be undertaken out of hours. Travel to Buck UK regional and continental Europe offices will be required from time to time.
- To ensure timesheets are completed in a timely manner.

Information Technology
- Involved in planning, designing and implementing a high quality production environment preferably within the financial service sector. Proven track record of supporting a Windows environment, Windows Server and Active Directory.
- Technical knowledge of MS Active Directory, Windows 2005/08, IIS 6/7, MS SQL 2005/2008, TCP/IP routing, and DNS, DHCP
Experience in designing, implementing & managing backup / recovery systems. Knowledge of backup technologies (e.g. Symantec Backup Exec) and data management
Experience in designing, implementing & managing storage technologies, such as SANs/ NAS and local storage. (ISCSI/FC)
- The candidate must have experience of VMWare Infrastructure within a SAN environment, SMS 2003 and Citrix PS4.5-XP.
Excellent practical knowledge of HP server hardware.
Practical knowledge of Cisco and MPLS/AVPN Frame Relay
- Good knowledge of other infrastructure components (desktop environment, databases, operating systems, Avaya telephony) used within business organisations.
- Ability to effectively manage a mixed support and project workload: prioritise & resolve problems; design, plan and implement projects.
- Ideally degree qualified or to a good educated standard. Must be MCSE 2003 upwards and CCNA certified. VCP desirable.
