The Civil Engineer works in close collaboration with the Project Manager and under his responsibility to accomplish the tasks associated with the realization of the water treatment plant project for the civil work part. -- -Civil work design review, preparation and follow-up of the planning for the works, supervision and coordination of the civil works constitute the core of the position.
Responsibilities:
- Review and/or prepare the detailed planning for the civil works tasks
- Review the detailed design for the civil work tasks
- Prepare, organize, control the documentation for the building permits
- Review and validate the offers (financial and scope) of the subcontractors and suppliers for the civil work tasks
- Participate, review and/or prepare the contracts for the subcontractors in charge of the civil work tasks
- Participate to the elaboration/ validation of the budgets for the civil work tasks
- Manage and coordinate the civil works subcontractors to realize the works under the required criteria of time, cost and quality (this covers mainly the geological surveys, demolition, realization of the specific works and buildings, roads and landscaping)
- Manage, along with the Project Manager, the implementation and monitoring of the Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) and of the procedures regarding to health and safety labor plan
- Work in close relationship with the Project Manager to coordinate the works for the different scope of works: civil work, process, electricity.
- Participate, along with those involved in the project, to site meetings (regular and special meetings). Organize specific meetings for the civil work tasks with the involved attendees.
- Participate (and can represent in some specific cases the company) to the meetings with the Client.
- Review the civil works on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project requirements, standards and norms, and quality levels.
- Prepare the notification and the possible claims for the civil work subcontractors.
- Participate under the management of the Project Manager to the preparation of the claim for the Client.
- Validate the works situation for the subcontractors in charge of the civil work tasks.
- Validate (under the responsibility of the Project Manager) the interim payment certificates presented by the subcontractors in charge of the civil work tasks.
- Prepare the needed documentation for the payment certificates to be addressed to our Client (for the civil work tasks).
- Control the way in which the terms and specifications of contracts are fulfilled (for the civil work subcontractors and for the civil work part of our contract with the Client).
- Prepare reports on progress of the civil works tasks (weekly, monthly), and all other reports required by the contract or the VWS management.
- Anticipate, manage and monitor the risks for the civil work tasks (identified and potential). Communicate on a regular basis with the project manager on this topic
- A university degree in Civil Engineering
- Three to five years experience in a senior leadership position
- Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to execute projects on time, on budget and on quality
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing realization team under complex organization
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Good computer skills, proficient with ms office applications
- Ability to communicate effectively in English is an asset
- Experience with the European government funding process is an asset
- Willing to relocate for the duration of projects
