Vessel Management System/Electrical-Electronic Supervisor
A. Summary
The Vessel Management System/ Electrical-Electronic Supervisor (VMS/EE Supervisor) is responsible for the management, the material control, the maintenance, repair and operation of all electronic and electrical equipment on board the rig. He has to maintain documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements. He shall advise the Chief Engineer on all electrical and electronic maintenance and repair matters. The VMS/EE Supervisor is to operate in such a manner as to effect safe and efficient performance by achieving the goals set forth below.
B. Duties
a) General
1. Carry out duties and work tasks in accordance with established, seif electrical and electronic practices such as those applicable portions contained in the Company¿s procedures manuals.
2. Maintain electrical and electronic equipment on the unit such that operation plan goals are met for electrical and electronic downtime, repair and maintenance by:
a. Working Safely
b. Proper maintenance procedures in accordance with the Company¿s preventative maintenance program.
c. Timely repairs.
3. Maintain area of work, tools and electrical and electronic equipment in a clean and orderly manner, free of hazards.
4. Maintain control over materials and tools. Ensure that borrowed tools are returned after use.
5. Observe all Flag State, Classification Society and local authority rules and regulations pertaining to his area of responsibility.
6. Request needed supplies and parts to maintain adequate inventory in area of responsibility.
7. Be completely knowledgeable of Company checklists and procedures in area of responsibility.
8. Prepare for, and supervise electrical and electronic crews, during heavy weather as outlined by the Chief Engineer.
9. Maintain good working relationships with OIM, Chief engineer, department heads and crew.
10. Perform or assist in the performance of such tasks or projects as may be assigned by the Chief Engineer.
11. Remains knowledgeable and utilizes the data, procedures and instructions contained in the units operations manual and manufacturers manuals.
12. Review all operational and technical bulletins and implement all directives as required.
13. Assist OIM in any accident, or near miss incident, investigations as required.
14. Eliminate any waste and establish a cost conscious planning effort within area of responsibility.
15. To practice safe operations routinely and to ensure that all persons in his department adhere to Company safety policy. Report violations to the OIM
16. Ensures that all documentation pertaining to the electrical and electronic department, including construction and equipment drawings, is maintained and updated, as required, to reflect current status and conditions.
