• Supervises and coordinates activities of riggers in erecting and operating machines to hoist and convey oil and gas machinery and equipment, such as structural beams, metal tanks, and wall and floor slabs, at construction site: load outs of fabricated materials onto barges / ships / rigs, etc.
• Specifies locations for movement and erection of derricks, hoists, and cranes, using knowledge of various methods of skidding and lifting equipment.
• Directs workers engaged in splicing ropes and metal cables to form hoisting slings.
• Ensure all equipment and stores used by the rigging team are in a satisfactory condition with regard to calibration, performance and maintenance necessary to carry out the operation.
• Specific responsibility to terminate operations if any malfunction or operation of the equipment would prejudice safety and/or satisfactory completion of project
• Ensure Client operating procedures, and in particular lifting operations, are adhered to in day to day work execution.
• Diploma / Trade Certificate in Rigging
• Minimum of 15 years experience in heavy lift/rigging/erection of steel structures and jacking/skidding operations and 5 years minimum as Rig Supervisor on site.
• Excellent communication skills in English. Knowledge of Arabic will be of distinctive advantage.
• Knowledge of onshore cranes.
• Knowledge of loose lifting Equipment (i.e. Slings, Shackles Chain Hoists)
• Competent in loose rigging inspection/examination before use and selection.
• Demonstrate good leadership quality and communication skills.
• Demonstrate knowledge of correct crane set up and load charts before commencing lift operations.
• Hold level 1 rigging cert or equivalent ECITB/LOLER*.
• Demonstrate ability to converse to client at site meetings.
• Able to read and understand lift plans and drawings.
• Proven Safety Record.
• Demonstrate knowledge of all types of rigging material.
• Capable of reading Safe Working Load (SWL) and Capacity charts.
• Physically fit, able to travel and work overtime when required, flexible attitude, be a team player
