Cummins Generator Technologies in Craiova, Romania have a position for a VPI Project Leader. Reporting to the Global APP/VPI Manager the main purpose of this position is to lead the development and implementation of small scale Value Package Introduction (similar to New Product Introduction) projects as defined by the Cummins Generator Technologies product plans. Using a team of indirect reports the role is responsible for the building and management of cross functional and multi cultural teams as befits the needs of the VPI project. The role will be responsible for providing local VPI project leadership on current project and other large scale VPI programmes.
This is a global role with responsibilities to deliver VPI projects across the CGT organisation and support the implementation of global product strategy.
• Developing VPI project Charters and Contracts to assure clarity of objectives, deliverables and resource requirements including:
o Financial targets
o Project schedules
o Value Package Profile (to fulfill customer expectations)
o Capital, expenses and headcount needs
• Building and leading effective cross functional and multi cultural teams to deliver against VPI project contracts.
• Driving functional team leaders in the execution of all functional tasks.
• Communication and presentation of project information to key stakeholders including executive management, project sponsors, functional excellence leaders, project teams and customers.
• Conducting senior management reviews in line with the VPI Management review process to influence and drive decisions on project progression.
• Ensuring project team functional leaders conduct functional reviews in line with the VPI Management review process.
• Developing and applying tracking processes to monitor / mitigate risks, raise / resolve issues and ensure delivery of project objectives.
• Utilising appropriate project management tools and processes, e.g. Cummins VPI process, Six sigma, project planning, risk / issue management.
• Support the Aggregate Project Planning (APP) process.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified to a degree level, preferably in an engineering, business or professional project management discipline.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Project management and delivery of projects incorporating cross functional and multi cultural team management, project financial analysis, communication and application of new product development and introduction processes.
• Experience in New Product Introduction process
• Usage of Microsoft Projects tool
• Good coordinator and team player, able to communicate on all levels
• Communicative, creative and open to change, attention to details
• Fluency in English
