Reporting to the local SQI leader, as Supplier Quality Improvement Engineer, you will be responsible for managing existing suppliers to maintain and improve overall supplier performance to agreed targets. This role is based in the Cummins Craiova, Romanian office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensuring that suppliers are aware of and meet Cummins standards and expectations, supporting Cummins Value Package Introduction programmes and commodity team cost reduction opportunities in the supply base.
• Conduct supplier Product and Process Audits with existing suppliers to actively promote continuous improvement and supplier capability.
• Support new supplier assessments and make recommendations based on the audit findings.
• Deliver and manage supplier advanced product quality planning (APQP) activities at defined gateways and within clearly defined timescales to support a successful new product or new supplier introduction.
• Lead Corrective Actions within the supply chain to ensure strong containment/successful root cause analysis and subsequent corrective and preventative actions are established.
• Develop and lead proactive supplier quality improvement plans to support customer and business needs using data driven performance focusing on quality and delivery targets.
• Supporting the Plants to provide effective containment of Supplier related Issues and liaising with the supplier base to present any costs related to disruptions.
Provide and publish supplier data analysis to business leader’s and pro-actively develop improvement projects using Cummins Supplier Quality Improvement Tools.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in an engineering or equivalent by experience
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• ISO900:2000/TS16949 Lead Auditor is desirable
• Thorough knowledge and practical experience of AIAG Quality Tools and APQP toolkit
• Six Sigma knowledge is an advantage
• Lean Manufacturing Experience would be an advantage
• Project Management Experience would be an advantage
• Product/Process knowledge of Machining / Casting / Electronics / Assembly / Plastics and Metal Forming is desirable
• Fluency in Romanian and English language (East European languages are a plus
